P7.7 Million Dalmore Whisky Sold at Christie’s Auction
Last week, Christie’s Auction sold its most luxurious bottle of single malt whiskey in London.
The bottle is part of a 12-piece set released by the Highland distillery in 2002. Each being named after a Dalmore characteristic, “The Kildermorie”, is a 62-year old product by Richard Paterson.
Known as a master blender, Paterson used firkins of single malt which were laid down in 1868, 1878, 1926 and 1939. The Kildermorie breaks records as it is the highest price ever purchased at Christie’s Auction for a bottle of Scotch whisky amounting to £114,000 or approximately PHP7,000,000. What’s more interesting about The Kildermorie is, it's price doubled compared to its pre-sale estimate.
As per a report by The Drinks Business, Christopher Munro, the head of the London Wine Department, said buyers also responded “enthusiastically” to many other offers at the auction.
Other sales at the auction were a firkin of 1947 Cheval Blanc for £168,000 or approximately PHP11,200,000. A bottle of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1806 was sold for £45,600 per bottle or approximately PHP3,060,000.
