EXCLUSIVE: The Zulueta Sisters of Apéritif Bring Their On-The-Go Luxury Treats To The Mall With Their Very First Paris-Inspired Store
It was in August 2016 when sisters Karla and Kim Zulueta brought their own stylish take on the art of grazing to Instagram. In other parts of the world, grazing tables overflowing with cheese, dips, fruits, bread, chocolate, and more were starting to gain traction online as a new trend in event catering. Seeing an opportunity in the local market, the sisters came up with Apéritif and introduced The Graze Box—a gift box full of different cheeses, cold cuts, olives, grapes, nuts, crackers, and more—beautifully arranged for that perfect Instagram shot. Soon enough, we were seeing their gorgeous grazing boxes and tables all around town.
We recently sat down with the Zulueta sisters for an exclusive interview to ask about the beginnings of their brand, and what customers can expect when they visit their brand new space in SM Aura.

According to Karla, she always had a love for hosting dinners and celebrations in her own home. She then decided to turn what started out as a hobby into a full-blown business in partnership with her sister Kim. As for the name Apéritif, it was Karla’s French boyfriend who suggested this French word for “appetizer,” perfectly capturing the sisters’ style inspiration.
One of the sisters’ early business goals was for Apéritif to be a part of their clients’ birthday, anniversary, wedding, and other celebrations. And that business certainly picked up. Because of rising demand and inquiries regarding locations, they decided that it was the perfect time to open their very first stand-alone store at SM Aura.
The quaint space located at the 4th level instantly transports you to Paris thanks to the interiors and music. From savory to sweet, Apéritif caters to every craving that you can enjoy on the go. You’ll find sandwiches, Ferrero éclairs, mango and chocolate mousse, plus specialty pastries like the Petite Antoine and Choux Chantilly. They also sell bottles of Moscato, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay wines as a perfect match to the food.
Speaking of on the go, Apéritif now offers the country’s very first Graze Cones for people to buy and indulge on their own—no party required! Inspired by the sisters’ travels to Europe, these portable grazing cones come in sweet or savory. The sweet one consists of four premium dark chocolate covered strawberries, and some chocolate shavings while the savory cone is a combination of Brie, truffle cheese, big and small olives, prosciutto, Milano salami, fuet, pickled onions, and baguette.

If you’re not in the mood for grazing boxes or cones, you can go with any of four creamy and light pasta dishes on the menu, freshly tossed inside a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese—Prosciutto pasta, pesto pasta, truffle mushroom, and the very decadent smoked salmon and caviar.

For something sweet and refreshing, you can enjoy light and creamy Flower Gelato made fresh everyday with ingredients shipped all the way from Italy. Or else, pick up some colorful macaroons and the big half-baked Ooey Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie that can be heated upon ordering.

What people have been raving about recently is Apéritif’s latest indulgence, the Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake. This newest obsession is a gooey chocolate cake layered with fudge, with decadent chocolate pudding and cocoa powder, topped with gold flakes, and enclosed in a Belgian chocolate shell. Instead of slicing into the cake, the best way to enjoy it is to just scoop up all that extra chocolate decadence. Come early, because this cake usually gets sold out.
