When is the best time to eat chocolate? Well, everyday! But today is extra special because it’s World Chocolate Day.

Chocolate has been around for centuries, the oldest evidence of it being prepared and consumed dating back to 1900 BC by the Olmecs of Mexico. And chocolate has evolved so much in the years, now available in all kinds of shapes and sizes and in all types of cuisines and desserts.

But we’re purists here. And for us, the best kind of chocolate is the chocolate bar. So many wrappers and boxes have been tossed aside our bedroom drawer from nights of bingeing on chocolates, sometimes as reward after a tiring day or most of the time just because the sweet craving hits.

But today, to celebrate World Chocolate Day, we’re going a little extra and have made up a list of unusual chocolate bars around the world that we’re dying to try out.

Is it crazy? Yes! But it works. The creaminess of the avocado complements the white chocolate, the toast gives the crunch, and the sea salt gives an extra layer of flavor. Is it good? Well, the bars are flying off their shelves, so it really must be!


Donuts & Coffee Milk Chocolate Bar

From the crazy but ingenious makers of the Avocado Toast Chocolate Bar is this California favorite: the Donuts & Coffee Milk Chocolate Bar. The bar is made of broken up donuts from all around California, infused with coffee grounds from LA coffee shops, and then blended together with rich and divine milk chocolate. Compartés says it’s one of their best-selling milk chocolates and people are lining up for these handmade bars from their kitchens.


Chuao Chocolatier Popcorn Pop Bar

Is it candy? Is it a late-night movie treat? Or is it a chocolate bar? This confused chocolate bar does not confuse us all—rather, we’re excited about it! An original creation from Chuao Chocolatier, the first Venezuelan chocolatier based in the US, the Popcorn Pop Bar is a harmony of all your favorite treats: puffed whole grains, toasted corn chips, and popping candy swimming in creamy milk chocolate. And yes, you can even hear that popping sound the candy makes when you eat these bad boys.


Montezuma’s Milk Chocolate with Chai Latte

This year, Montezuma’s Chocolates’ famous Absolute Black chocolate bar is turning 18, so they launched a range of Festival flavors in celebration. One of the new bars that this British chocolatier introduced that piqued our interest is the Milk Chocolate with Chai Latte, which is something chai latte lovers would surely love.

The bar is infused with a secret mix of spices—to protect their product, of course—which gives the chocolate a spice-intense aroma, like sipping warm chai latte on a rainy day, with every bite. It’s also certified organic for all those looking for that option.


Zotter Peanut Nougat, Potato Vodka, and Strawberry Milk Chocolate

Hailing from Austria, Zotter is a bean-to-bar chocolate producer that focuses on variety, innovation, sustainability, and 100% organic and fair trade quality in all their chocolates. From this interesting chocolatier comes the mother of all potato chip chocolates and liquor chocolates: the Peanut Nougat, Potato Vodka, and Strawberry Milk Chocolate.

The bar is made with homemade peanut brittle nougat, a layer of apricot chocolate and sweet potatoes, infused with delicious potato vodka, and then a thin strawberry chocolate layer covers the whole milk chocolate. It’s earthy, fruity, creamy, and with hint of spike. It’s a feast for the senses!
