Din Tai Fung Opens Second Branch In BGC

Check out the exclusive new menu and signature cocktails!

Award-winning, half-century-old Taiwanese restaurant Din Tai Fung is bringing something new to Filipino diners as it opens its seventh Philippine shop in Uptown Parade BGC. The iconic global brand was brought to the Philippines by The Moment Group in 2015, and since then it has launched shops throughout Metro Manila, drawing in diners with its world-famous xiao long bao.

Din Tai Fung Uptown is the brand’s second shop in BGC; it's first store opened in Bonifacio High Street in 2016. The new DTF branch is an exciting addition to the city’s dining scene, with fresh new ways for guests to enjoy the brand’s globally renowned fare and service.

All-new interiors

The first thing you'll notice is the all-new look. Instead of its usual signature crimson, this Din Tai Fung store is decked in jewel-toned jade hues and marble tables. Solihiya chairs are a nod to the brand’s presence in the Philippines.

An art piece by local visual artist Mars Bugaoan adds color and interest to the shop’s walls. Bugaoan is a longtime DTF collaborator, whose works can also be viewed at the other DTF locations in the Philippines.

Specialty cocktails

There are exciting new offers on the menu, too. Like the specialty cocktails, whimsically named Din, Tai and Fung! Exclusively available at this branch only, these drinks are designed to pair perfectly with the dishes on the expansive menu.

Din consists of lemongrass tea and London dry gin, with a dash of syrup and basil, coming together in a light, fragrant concoction. Tai is a sweet but complex brew of gin-infused oolong, cherry liqueur, and soda, topped with rosemary for an earthy finish. Fung is DTF’s take on the classic whisky sour, made with Suntory-infused pepper, Mandarin orange, and lemon juice, then frothed up with egg foam.

New menu specials, same quality of service

There are also new dishes on the menu like Oyster Misua Soup, Fried Pumpkin in Salted Egg, Szechuan Pepper Soft Shell Crab, Spareribs in Chili Garlic, and Abalone Special Fried Rice.

Once exclusive to the DTF Private Dining Room menus, these premium dishes are now available at the new DTF shop, along with choice desserts like Almond Pudding with Red Bean and Taiwanese Ice Cream Crepe, which comes in three flavors: Shoyu Caramel, Taro, and Black Sesame.

Like all DTF shops in the Philippines and all over the globe, the Uptown outpost pays close attention to every detail of the diner’s journey, as it abides by a meticulous “Happy OC” protocol—from the way diners are greeted to the process by which the food is prepared and served. The team behind DTF Philippines, led by Moment Founder and Managing Partner Eliza Antonino, trained under DTF president Warren Yang and the DTF headquarters team in Taiwan to master this service philosophy.

“At Moment, we aim to make our diners happy whenever they visit our shops. We try to accomplish this in varied ways, such as imagining up our dining rooms and curating their atmospheres to be uniquely in context to each neighborhood we open in," says Abba Napa, restaurateur and Moment founder. "And this is what we envision for Din Tai Fung Uptown: A shop that allows diners to rediscover their world-famous favorites, which are accompanied by a few new specials this time around, in reimagined interiors that we hope will have everyone enjoying their all-time favorite Din Tai Fung dishes that much more, from morning until late.”
