Half Saints Opens Second Branch In Tokyo Tomorrow!
This passion-driven and proudly Filipino brand is set to make waves in one of the most discerning markets in the world!
We’ve been hardcore fans of Quezon City bakery Half Saints ever since they opened. During the pandemic, we watched admiringly as they made their passion for baking an essential ingredients of their success, creating delightful new menu items such as their flower tarts, puff pizza and merci buko pie. We especially love their modern riffs on classic Filipino desserts like crema de fruta and sans rival.
Which is why we’re proud to report that this very Pinoy brand is opening it’s second branch in Tokyo, Japan tomorrow, November 1. That is just four years after their first store opened in Quezon City, and we’re calling it a major step, a major win. Congratulations, @halfsaints!
The minimalist space was designed by Arts Serrano of One Zero Design Inc, who also created their first restaurant in Manila. "Drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s rich urban texture, @halfsaints.jp stands out in a neutral wash of concrete plaster—an empty middle space that invites people with their infinite expressions. We hope that this margin of emptiness allows for people a space to breathe, a quick escape to regain themselves after a hard day’s work," writes Serrano.
While we haven't yet got the final menu for Half Saints Tokyo, we do know that the puff pizzas will be prominently displayed, as well as some new items like cloud cookies an chocolate tarts.
Owners Christine Roque and Jo Arciaga are thrilled. "It is a dream so big that we didn’t imagine it would ever come true," they posted on Instagram. "As cautious first-time chefs and restaurateurs, we listened to all of you. We learned and built Half Saints with all your help and support. Your smiles guided our decisions, and even the responses we got in times we felt we could have done more for you. You are all part of this new space.Thank you. Salamat. Arigatou gozaimasu"
