LOOK! Shake Shack Unveils New Korean Inspired Chicken Sandiwch + Menu
The gochujang-flavored goodies crash land onto Manila Shacks today. Get all the details!
Inspired by Seoul’s vibrant fried chicken scene, Shake Shack unveils a limited-time Gochujang Chick’n sandwich featuring a gochujang-glazed crispy chicken breast topped with toasted sesame seeds that sits over a white kimchi slaw. It was first served in South Korea and was a hit in the US. It lands in Manila today, September 27. Get ready to meet the Gochujang Chick!
Gochujang is a flavor-packed, go-to ingredient in Korean cooking, made with red chili peppers, sticky rice, fermented soybeans, and salt. The result is a red fermented paste that’s a bit spicy, sweet, packed with umami flavor, and used as an anchor in all kinds of stews, marinades, sauces, and more. To complement the gochujang, Shake Shack finely chops and mixes garlic and ginger into the glaze as well.
But what really brings it all together is the signature white kimchi slaw! In addition to cutting through the rich flavors of the chicken, this kimchi slaw is a tribute to the white daikon radishes often served alongside fried chicken and other dishes in Seoul. Kimchi is a staple of Korean cuisine made from salted, seasoned, and fermented veggies (ours includes Napa cabbage, daikon radish, and green onion).
KR-ash landing into the Shacks is this accompanying Korean-inspired collection of menu items: Gochujang Chick’n Bites, crispy, whole white meat chicken bites; Gochujang Fries, crispy crinkle cut fries, both served with spicy-sweet Gochujang mayo sauce. Pair these with Black Sugar Shake, a toasty-caramel black sugar hand spun drink with vanilla frozen custard, topped with whipped cream and black sugar syrup. 대박!
