Basque Cheesecake Bites by Eat Monmonmon
You don’t need the excuse of a special occasion to treat yourself to a box of @eat.monmonmon’s cup-sized burnt Basque cheesecakes. Creamy, laced with notes of caramel, they’re available in three sizes, though we really like the personalized minis that you can devour with minimum guilt. We also like how @eat.monmonmon practices sustainability — ingredient packaging is sent for upcycling or to be used as compostables. Ask about the limited edition flavors, too. To order, DM @eat.monmonmon on Instagram or call (0917) 857-2312.

New York-inspired Tacos from Taco-Mata Cloud Kitchen
New York City is a true foodie melting pot, so it’s no surprise to find unconventional eats like these New York-inspired tacos. The Harlem has a filling of buttermilk fried chicken on a bed of homemade slaw, muscovado sugar, crushed peanuts and green sauce. The Soho has butter-seared steak au poivre on a bed of caramelized onions, slathered with brandy-infused peppercorn sauce. The rest of the menu reads like a foodie’s wet dream. Biko by Mayor Biko
Not a misspelling of the name of Pasig’s beloved mayor, this is a new local business centered around that classic Filipino kakanin, the biko. @mayorbiko makes this sexy-looking biko with glutinous rice, brown sugar, coconut milk, topped with a thick layer of gleaming golden latik. The flavors are fantastic. The latik is so good that we tried to beg for more. To order, send a DM to @mayorbiko on Instagram. They process orders at the end of each week.

Karaf Coffee
Even for someone like me who adores the entire process of brewing coffee, there’s something fun and freeing about Karaf Coffee’s boxed java. The sleek packaging travels well and is easy to use, the coffee is made from locally-sourced arabica, and the drinks are obviously crafted with care. The boxes arrive chilled, in two espresso-based flavors: Clean Black and the non-dairy Dirty White. Just the thing when you’re on-the-go and longing for a caffeine boost to share with your buddies. To order, DM @karafcoffee on Instagram or order online via the link below.

Oscar’s Crispy Dried Beef Tapa
When tapa has been slowly and carefully made, you can really taste the difference. Oscar’s makes beef tapa following an century-old recipe and only using lean beef from free-range cattle, whose meat is low in fatty tissues. The meat is lightly seasoned with rock salt, then sun-dried until it turns crisp, almost crackly, like bacon. Serve it with rice and fried eggs, dip it in vinegar, or even munch on it like chicharon. It’s wonderful. To order, send a DM to @oscarsdriedbeeftapa on Instagram.

Chef Chele’s Pastrami Sandwich
It takes more than 15 days to make Chef Chele Gonzalez’s New York-style brisket pastrami sandwich, with all the curing, cold and hot smoking, and roasting that he puts the meat through. Then he makes the bread and pickles using organic flour and carefully chosen cucumbers from his partner farmers. We didn’t know all the care and hard work that went into every single sandwich. We only knew that our eyes rolled to the back of our heads at the very first bite and we forgot that we had an extensive vocabulary, so we could only say: “oooooh!” Available on weekends at #MakatiStreetMeetRada or order from @delibychele on Instagram. You can also put in an order online through the link below.
