Every year, doughnut shops all over the United States celebrate National Doughnut Day to remember the Doughnut Girls, women who volunteered for The Salvation Army, who used to serve doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. It was a great fundraiser, too.
We don’t really celebrate this in the Philippines, which is a shame. Just like the Doughnut Girls who volunteered their service, lots of our F&B friends are making great efforts to serve and support front liners and underprivileged communities in the fight against covid-19. And who wouldn’t appreciate a little sweetness right now?
Here are our top ten favorite doughnuts of the moment.

Baker on East
Baker Chino Cruz’s doughnuts are flavor-forward and don’t depend on sugar to deliver impact. We love the unique fillings like the Kinako milk ring donuts that have milk powder, sugar and kinako powder (a Japanese flour made from soybean). Check out the Donut Drops in gala apple, miso caramel, spiced pear and custard, and other fascinating flavors. (0917) 793-3473 @BakerOnEast on FB/IG
