<p>It’s not Christmas without festive cakes and pies! But tastes do change and this year I’d say the trend is disciplined decadence, a nod to nostalgia, and extremely good taste. And every type of cake gets an upgrade. The classic burnt Basque cheesecakes are back but with superbly delicious twists. Ube is still hugely popular. Pies are richer and invite you to indulge with reckless abandon. Just like these holidays, the yuletide cakes and desserts of 2023 are an amazing selection of taste, superb execution and emotional appeal.
