EXCLUSIVE: Dr. Vicki Belo's Christmas Tree Designer, Stephen Brown, Shares The Inspiration Behind His Creation
Meet Stephen Brown, the imaginative founder of Glitterville Studios and pastel-loving Christmas tree designer to the stars!
He's designed many trees for a varied clientele that includes Oprah, Mariah Carey, and the Philippines' very own Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao and Dr. Vicki Belo, always making sure that each and every one of his creations reflects his love for holiday cheer.
No two trees are ever the same; the process of coming up with this ultimate holiday centerpiece is a highly collaborative and personalized process, resulting in one hundred percent satisfaction and happiness of the families whose homes he helps light up!
Deviating from Christmas staples of reds, greens, golds, silvers, and white lights, Stephen has always chosen mostly pastels and whimsical shimmer and shine for his signature look. Unexpected as it might be, the style always works and brings smiles to those lucky enough to get up close and personal with his products.
Often, magical creatures turned into must-have trinkets also take centerstage with Stephen. Friendly mermen and mermaids, festive lumberjacks, gentle unicorns, candy-colored feathered creatures, fruit-wielding critters, glitter lambs, and so many other cute little finds are all mainstays in the plethora of Glitterville offerings.
In particular, Stephen's talents have delighted Dr. Vicki , husband Dr. Hayden Kho, and adorable daughter Scarlet Snow so much that they've enlisted his help to make their Christmas tree extra special for the fourth time in a row this year.
Stephen shares, "The theme for this year's tree is Scarlet’s Sweets and Unicorn Dreams! As the name implies, the white flocked tree is filled with giant cotton candies covered in honey bees that Scarlet calls 'sugar bees' and pony-sized, one-of-a-kind unicorns in pastel colors."
"Sparkle is added with European glass rainbow garlands and an array of other glittering goodies, including special lighting used within the tree to enhance its fairy tale look," he continues.
It's undoubtedly a little girl's Christmas dream come true, but that's not to say that it hasn't garnered attention from grown-ups, too!
As a reward for all his hard work, Stephen not only enjoys a sizable online following and a worldwide fanbase, but is also given the opportunity to become a part of the families he works with.
Take his experiences with the Kho-Belo brood. Doctors Vicki and Hayden definitely don't see him as a once-a-year supplier, but an integral part of their fondest holiday memories and major family milestones.
The designer recalls, "Five years ago, Cristalle Belo-Pitt and I met on Instagram and decided to meet up when I was in Manila. We got along so well that it was like we had known each other forever and she took me home to meet her mom and the rest of the family!"
He continues, "I was invited to Sunday lunch at Vicki Belo’s house. It was during these informal lunches that our friendship was born! While most people know her as the flashy celebrity, I really got to know the down-to-earth, full of fun, loves to bake Vicki Belo with whom I have so much in common."
He has since seen Scarlet Snow grow up over the years, attended the Kho-Belo nuptials in Paris, and was kept up to date with the birth of Cristalle's son, Hunter.
As someone who started out with simply making handmade Halloween and Christmas ornaments to give as Christmas gifts, Stephen inspires everyone that a long way can be traveled if passion is what drives you.
"They became so popular that I started making more and more until eventually I started my own company, Glitterville! Today, my products are sold around the world and favored by many celebrities," Stephen concludes.
How's that for a fulfilling career?
