This Cool And Practical Floating Furniture Deserves To Own The Spotlight In Your Home

Four years ago, one of the great pioneers of Italian contemporary design passed away, leaving behind a legacy of turning B&B Italia into the lifestyle brand that it is today, a legacy of turning furniture into culture.

B&B Italia’s founding father, Piero Ambrogio Busnelli was a proven catalyst for his vision of using and industrializing cold-molded polyurethane foam, collaborating with world-renowned designers in the likes of Antonio Citterio, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Mario Bellini, Gaetano Pesce and many others. His insight and entrepreneurial vision truly shone because of his keen intuition and cunning eye for detail, which paved the way for B&B Italia to win four Compasso D’Oro Awards for its groundbreaking pieces and growing international success.

B&B Italia’s rich history, thanks to Mr. Busnelli, contributed in accelerating the company’s character and also opened doors for endless possibilities in the global design industry.

A significant design begotten by his visionary is the PAB by Studio Kairos, named after the initials of the late founder. PAB is a system that originated from a bicycle wheel’s aesthetics.

PAB has extremely thin and strong panels that are equipped with an aluminum rod-like a folded sheet of paper, hung on the wall, held up by a cable, and at the same time, houses a slot for sliding door panels.

Offering a wide range of configurations and solutions, part of PAB’s identity lies in its vast choice of finishes and hues. Wood, aluminum metal, glass, white Calacatta, and gray porcelain stone finishes all make up to highly expressive surfaces that are able to convey a specific story to each composition, enriching any living space.

Floating furniture has emerged as an effective way to create the illusion of more space. In bathrooms, floating-style vanities free up floor space, creating the feeling of slightly more square footage. In more decorative spaces—such as living rooms, bedrooms and offices—floating shelves keep everyday items within arm's reach in a sleek, light and airy manner. Whether you’re routinely working from home or just need a place to set down a book, PAB’s functionality provides a large surface area, becoming a desk, ideal for working - an extra feature that exceeds the limits of just an ordinary “bookshelf."

An innovative touch in today’s modern homes, the PAB Wall System stands true to its roots as a design that emulates aesthetic simplicity, practicality, sly functionality and refined quality details.
