Iris Apfel’s Circus-Inspired Furniture Collection Is Fashion For The Home

There is no stopping the 96-year-old Iris Apfel from adding more feathers to her already-festooned cap. The fashion icon, interior designer, and businesswoman has recently added another item in her list of accomplishments: a furniture collection.

As what can be expected from Apfel’s flamboyant take on fashion, her latest endeavor features pieces that mirror her bold and whimsical personality; they are the stuff that make for great statement, conversation-starting pieces in every part of the home. "The bold colorful prints in my collection reflect my unique and spirited sense of design,” Apfel said.

Apfel has established herself as the go-to interior designer of the White House—from Harry S. Truman to Bill Clinton. She also put up the textile company Old World Weavers in 1950 with husband Carl. With her extensive interior design background, a furniture collection sure felt like it has been a long time coming, this is why the news was met with much delight and excitement.

Apfel collaborated with Cloth & Company to create 94 styles of furniture pieces sold exclusively on Home Shopping Network; the collection features 15 textile prints and 19 silhouettes. Cloth & Company is a “fast fashion” company that makes use of digital fabric printing technology for furniture production.

A self-confessed “fabric freak,” Apfel’s furniture pieces come with stylish fabric designs that are inspired by the vibrant and playful world of circus, such as bold black and white stripes and dreamy florals with circus tents.

The collection includes accent chairs, ottomans, settees, headboards, storage benches, and curved screens whose prices range from $269.95 - $1199.95.
