"Create Personal Stories For Your Home" With Visual Storyteller Ito Kish's Pop-Up Store
Last year, Ito Kish closed his home store KISH on Reposo St. in Makati. A store that had been operating for about five years, its closing meant the opening of more doors for this visual storyteller.
"It has been a time of rest. I stayed home, I read, I spent time with loved ones, and I travelled," he says about how his life has been since the end of a (and a start of another) phase in his career. "It has also been a time of discovery. In my travels, I was delighted to discover many beautiful new objects that I couldn't resist. I had to bring them home to show everybody."
After taking a break, this man behind masterfully designed, iconic and award-winning pieces of furniture—such as the Gregoria chair that was named after his mother and inspired by intricately designed balustrades in their old home—is back at work. Recently, he collaborated with Robinsons Department Store for a new home brand called Curated Home. He's also been busy with interior design projects, creating "custom and bespoke interiors that reflect the aspirations and personal taste" of their clients.
And last month, he launched his pop-up store called the Stories in Power Plant Mall. Why "Stories?" Ito says, "I chose the name because I have always believed that one of my life's missions is to help you create personal stories for your home."
The 36 sq.m. store is a definite visual feast, brimming with so much beauty and, well, stories. Here, one can find unique mid-century vintage furniture and ceramics that were sourced from Denmark and other parts of Europe.
"For fans of the modern, I brought in contemporary pieces. For textile lovers, there will be works by Anke Drechsel. She uses intricate embroidery on luxurious fabric—silk, velvet, and linen. You will find her pillows, soft toys, and pouches at Stories," Ito shares.
The chance to own a piece that was discovered and sourced by a design expert like Ito is something that will truly appeal to all interior savvy individuals.
Stories' pop-up store is at the 2nd Level - New Wing of Power Plant Mall until the end of August.
