What To Expect At The Upcoming Manila FAME, Dubbed As "Heritage Reimagined"

There's a sense of novelty about things from the past. Retro, vintage, old-world return and are considered trends, rendered with modern interpretations that give them that of-the-moment appeal. Taking cues from designs that emerged many years ago, the new creations present fresh points of view people will appreciate today.

The 69th installment of the bi-annual event Manila FAME, happening on April 25 to 27 at the World Trade Center, gives a throwback with this season's theme: "Heritage Reimagined." More than 300 home and lifestyle brands will come together to showcase creations by Filipino talents.

"Our goal is to highlight the most iconic styles and elements of past products and reintroduce them through modern interpretations," says DTI-CITEM Executive Director Pauline Suaco-Juan. The revival and reinvention of dated pieces are deemed necessary to preserve our culture and traditions, and Manila FAME serves as the perfect avenue to put Philippine heritage on the spotlight.

This year's Creative Director, Vince Uy, went the minimalist route and took on a modernist approach towards product development initiative, together with his team composed of industrial designer Stanley Ruiz, interior designer Nix Alañon, fashion editor and brand consultant Andre Chang, lifestyle and industrial designer PJ Aranador, and show and accessories designer Maco Custodio. Updated visuals also represent Manila FAME's legacy, thus deciding to follow the weave pattern with a contemporary touch as its new logo.

Visitors can expect a curated collection at Manila FAME, with a treasure trove of covetable pieces in the Design Commune, Artisans Village, and the Fashion E-tailers Special Settings areas.
