Room In Focus: This Chanel-Inspired Closet Is A Show Stopper
In this fashion-inspired room, lacquered finishes and a dramatic stone countertop are just a few highlights
This master closet truly represents #closetgoals! Designed by Ilene Chase for the Lake Forest Showhouse, it was inspired by Chanel.
Sleek lacquered wood, with millwork details recall the fine tailoring of a Chanel suit. The thick black panda marble from Calia Stone Boutique capping the central jewelry island gives the room its spectacular luster. This centerpiece stands on Lucite and brass legs, a nod to the art deco period.
Flanking this central island are the closets themselves. Here, Ilene Chase uses casework painted in white as an envelope with interiors that are wrapped in black and white wallpaper reminiscent of the tweed fabric made of fancy tweed and boucle yarn, typically employed in a Chanel suit. There is more than ample room for all manner of shoes and purses: glass cabinet doors that look like French windows cover a section for shoes or purses, the better to see through them, for easy identification of one’s accessories. Open storage is located above the closet space with clothes hangers, making more room for a girl’s couture collection.
A slipper
chair, upholstered with fabric from The Vale London affords
reprieve from all the primping that goes on in this room, and nothing less than
a chandelier by Idlewood Electric crowns this
space. Parquet floors by Divine Floors enhances the luxurious feel of this room, along with
wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries and Holly Hunt.
