A Humble Bungalow Is Transformed Into A Modern Vintage Shared Office Space

Interior designer Sharlene Lanzarrote took on the challenge of turning a 60 sq. m. house into a stylish contemporary work space that’s flexible and functional

For any kind of workspace, it being conducive for productivity is a must. While it’s not a one-size-fits-all and we all have our quirks when it comes to our desks or home offices, one thing that’s important for these areas to have is the presence of light.

The 60 sq.m. property is a renovation project of an old bungalow. She envisioned the place to be flexible and functional, resulting in a modern vintage  look that’s both inspiring yet versatile. “It is important to carefully plan an office space to fit the needs of its users,” the designer points out. Thus, each piece inside—a nice assembly of industrial and luxury—is not only eye candy, but also serves a purpose.

Sharlene walks us through the shared office space. “Upon entering, you’ll see a small lounge area or waiting area for guests or clients, a conference table, and a small pantry. This common area can have a lot of uses. We use this for client meetings, family gatherings, or as a hangout spot with our friends during game night,” she begins, presenting the intention of every carefully planned area.

She continues, “We have two private offices that used to be bedrooms. The space can also be configured in different layouts in the future.” Here, the limited space was no issue because of the way they maximized the space without compromising on the essentials.  The modern vintage décor adds interest and texture to the scheme.

And finally, the designer takes us to her favorite area: the hidden powder room. “We put a lot of effort into designing our hidden powder room. I wanted to make it look like a hidden sanctuary with eclectic elements, like the cat wallpaper and the monkey lamp,” she shares. “It’s such a different vibe from the rest of the office, and I like that I was able to showcase my interior design vision in such a small space.”

The place's beauty is even more amplified with the stream of natural light—and an unobstructed view of the outdoors entering from its windows—as part of their overall design intent.
