10 Iconic Ice Cream Flavors And What They Look Like As Rooms
From classic flavors such as Vanilla and Strawberry to local delicacies such as Ube and Queso, these make legit inspo for room décor
Absolutely anything can be a source of inspiration for home decor, including ice cream.
Wait, ice cream? Yes, ice cream!
It’s a dessert that has a variety of flavors, even some flavors having yet to be discovered, and visually, what makes it stand out is its color, texture and shape (when scooped and molded). Since ice cream is mainly created using similar ingredients (aside from the ingredient that gives it its unique flavoring), the color and texture of the ice cream is what people look after, aesthetic-wise. Given that these two design elements are ever-present in ice cream, and July is Ice Cream Month, it's not too much of a far-fetched idea to suggest that this dessert is not only tempting for sustenance, but also as décor inspiration.

Vanilla
Classic and elegant like the ever iconic ice cream flavor, Vanilla, this bathroom created by Three Birds Renovations (@threebirdsrenovations on Instagram) is sleek and luxurious. The rich taste of Vanilla is suggested by the chandelier and patterned vanity wall at the center of the room. These elements in the bathroom further show that despite being such a classic flavor, Vanilla has its own charms, too. Three Birds Renovations uses several shades of cream and white as well in patterns and prints to add depth in the room. Just like vanilla, the ice cream flavor, your room doesn’t have to be plain and boring to be a classic. Photographs by: @poulettepastry @threebirdsrenovations
Strawberry
The fun, sometimes tart, almost always sweet flavor, Strawberry, manifests itself in this equally fun and cute bedroom uploaded to Pinterest by @lunarrmoons. Resembling the color of Strawberry ice cream, the highlight of this bedroom is the splash of pink from the bed and other furniture pieces. The use of pastel pink makes the room look soft and warm, thus making the space appear more homey and cozy. Photographs: @healmedelicious @lunarrooms
Cookies and Cream
A masterclass in the use of tones instead of colors, this room corresponds to another classic favorite, Cookies n’ Cream! Definitely, Cookies n’ Cream is the flavor to go to when you want a little more satisfaction from your ice cream but not something too adventurous. This room uploaded to Pinterest by My Bespoke Room (@mybespokeroom) gives off similar vibes as well: it’s simple, yet it holds a sense of sophistication to it. The photos on the wall, the patterned rug, and the plants also add that extra flavor to this room! Photographs: @icecreamwithjules @mybespokeroom
Coffee
Flavors like Coffee and Mocha are definitely classics with their own lovely nuances! This room uploaded by renovation forum, Renotalk (@renotalk on Instagram), is simple, minimalist, and reminiscent of the Japandi look, where Japanese and Scandinavian use of wood to warm a space is seen in the furniture and the trim. The different shades of wood on the furniture are enhanced by the cream-colored walls, resembling the smoothness of Coffee ice cream. The textured lines on the table bring more depth to the room’s overall look, and the stream of natural light coming in gives the perfect pick-me-up, just like coffee! Bubblegum
The thing with bubblegum ice cream is whether they come in pink and blue; pink and green or variations thereof, you know that you're eating a flavor that is completely unnatural and saccharine. Hence, the fun of the flavor. This room, imagined by @ninesideshape, has an ethereal, dreamlike vibe. Aside from having the colors bubblegum ice cream comes in, it also suggests the ephemeral nature of the ice cream flavor. Photographs: @tripledobleuno @ninesideshape
Mint Chocolate Chip
Mint Chocolate Chip: You either love it or hate it. Chocolate chunks in creme de menthe-flavored cream may not be for everyone, but we found a winner of a kitchen designed by Bree Leech that could have very well been inspired by this flavor. Retro mint-colored cabinets are set off by a shiny black countertop and black hardware. The show stopper is the backsplash, made of a terrazzo-like stone finish. The fun part is the dramatic scale of its black speckling, suggesting extra chunky dark chocolate. Who can resist? Photographs: @savingroomfordessert @breeleech
Matcha
Here is another green-colored flavor in our list: Matcha! But when someone says "matcha," not only does the color green come to mind. So does its complex flavor profile: a touch of sweet nuttiness with bitter notes, complemented by savory vegetal grassy flavors. Its role in the ceremonial Japanese tea also comes to mind. Hence, when choosing a room that would evoke this ice cream flavor, looking for the color green wasn't top of mind. A room open to nature, visually letting the color green from surrounding vegetation in and made of natural materials like wood best reflects the flavor of matcha. Rocky Road
Rocky Road is the perfect balance of chocolate, nuts, and marshmallows. These ingredients mix well together to form quite the exciting ice cream flavor! This room was designed by Kelly Wearstler, and it definitely shows through her excellent use of colors and patterns to create this beautiful and unique room. Rocky Road is a fun combination of three ingredients, and this room accurately depicts this concept very well. Wearstler uses different patterns on the couches and rug to add more texture to the room, yet the brown carpeted stairs and the plain cream walls give this room its smooth finishing touch. Ube
Now, for two of our local favorites! First up, we have one of our favorite dessert ingredients, Ube. Like matcha, ube is an ingredient to several desserts, including Halo-Halo and, of course ice cream. As a room, Ube would have to be W Shanghai The Bund’s Cloud on The Bund Suite. Similar to the rich purple color of an Ube ice cream, the purple carpeted floor and purple furniture pieces (i.e. couch, cushions) look very rich and add depth to the look of the room. Because of the large windows and round shape of the room, the sunlight bounces off from the floor to the bed frame, giving the illusion that the bed frame is purple (when it is indeed black). The bed frame is also the star of the show, not only because of its unique structure but also because it ties the purple in together and creates a very luxe look. Queso
As for the second local favorite, it’s Queso or Cheese! Cheese is normally an ingredient used for savory dishes, but surprisingly, it tastes amazing as a dessert and is especially refreshing to eat on a very hot and sunny day. This room uploaded to Pinterest by elaine 俞 (@elaneyu_) resembles that refreshment you would feel on a sunny day. The space looks soft and cozy, and the curtains allow for enough sunlight to stream in and make the room a whole lot brighter. The use of yellow is very subtle in this room, but the light makes the yellow pop and glow across the whole space. Photographs by: @greggysoriano @elaneyu_
