Ye-Jin's Home
A celebrity’s home reveals more about them than they personas portray. In its first year anniversary, the Korean show “Master In The House” featured Son Ye-Jin’s home. It is a revealing portrait of an independent woman’s life and preferences. She chose an ensemble of European contemporary designer furniture for her spaces. Her living room contains an Edra Italia sofa by Francisco Binfare, a Foscarini Twiggy lamp, Fritz Hansen’s egg chair, the Glass Shimmer Tavolini Table by Patricia Urquiola, Classicon Bell Tables by Sebastian Herkner as occasional tables, a Moisonnier antique-finished cabinet, and a Nomon Barcelona wall clock.

Her Art Collection
Son Ye Jin, one of Metro.Style's candidates for Most Beautiful Korean Actresses, supports the local artists of South Korea. As seen in the Master In The House clip, once you walk into Son Ye Jin’s living room, you are greeted by a large painting dominated by a large field of yellow color and text in cursive handwriting which says, "Collaboration is boring." Humorously, the hosts of the show comment, “Did she paint this herself?” The artist behind this work, along with another piece seen earlier in the episode, is Woo Kuk Won. A contemporary artist whose work is characterized by child-like scribbles and figures that recall iconic figures found in myths, fairytales, fables and even characters from well-loved cartoons such as Dumbo. In creating these, Woo Kuk Won mines his own memories to come up with this dream-like world that is marked by the freedom and innocence of childhood. Educated in Japan, and also known by his Japanese name, “Kumimoto,” this artist’s works are shown in important institutional collections such as the Art Bank, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea and the Seoul National University Museum of Art, Seoul, Korea. In 2011, he won the coveted JoongAng Fine Arts Prize.

These humorous, cartoon-like figures sure are delightful ways to call attention to a part of the home that does not normally see much use for decoration, the edges of walls. But Son Ye-Jin does just that, playfully, with the help of art pieces by the artist known as Kappao. These pieces populate the artist's studio, as figures on a shelf, sculptures and even functional art such as bowls, stools and furniture. Refusing for her work to be restricted by labels and definitions, Kappao, whose real name is Myungshin Ko, works with all manner of media to make her characters that are defined by deadpan expressions. Her work is also famously exhibited in the lobby of the Chason Hotel in Jeju Island.

Her Pillowscape Prizes The Artisanal and The Handmade
These Coral and Tusk throw pillows are by textile designer, Stephanie Housley, a Wyoming-based, Rhode Island School of Design graduate. Ye-Jin’s accent cushions are first hand-drawn by the designer. After the designs are finalized, each one is hand-embroidered in India by artisans.

Her Adorable Maltese Dog, Kitty
Even her choice of a cuddly companion is a pupper that has always been regarded as an accessory for the well-heeled. It is thought that the Maltese were brought to Malta by the Phoenicians.

The Maltese dog's beauty has been captured in ancient art, with Greek philosopher, Aristotle, even referring to it as “perfectly proportioned.” It is said that a Roman lady’s outfit was not complete without a Maltese dog in tow. In Christian mythology, St. Paul is believed to have been gifted a Maltese dog for healing the father of the Roman governor, Publius.

Her Choice of Wedding Venue
No stranger to the glamor of Hallyuland, Aston House in Walkerville Hotel and Resort has been used as a location for Sisyphus: The Myth (JTBC, 2021); Backstreet Rookie (SBS, 2020), Touch Your Heart (TvN, 2019); Extraordinary You (MBC, 2016) and The Golden Bride (SBS, 2007-2008). Taking on the Jacobean style, the site was designed by Wilson And Associates, inspired by Aston Hall in Birmingham, England.

Even Her Wedding Favors Have Royalty-Related Provenance
Within Son Ye-Jin and Hyun Bin’s wedding loot bags that they gave away to their guests were a pair of Baccarat Swing Bowls. A quick search on Google reveals that one of these dainty bowls costs 80 Euros. Aside from the considerable price tag attached to these, what makes them so special? Made by Baccarat, easily the world’s most famous crystal manufacturers, known for its beauty, brilliance and clarity, the Swing bowls in the BinJin wedding loot bags have provenance.
Baccarat is a French crystal brand that traces its history to the 18th century, when King Louis XV of France gave the Bishop of Metz, Bishop Montmorency-Laval, his approval to establish a glassworks enterprise in the town of Baccarat, located in Lorraine, Eastern France. Crystal from this company has graced the tables of royalty, the likes of Queen of Portugal.

Her Blue and White Tableware
Lately, the actress has been sharing her kitchen successes in her Instagram feed. Her creations are plated in fine blue and white china. In the “Master of the House” episode that featured her home, Ye-Jin’s dining area was shown to have been decorated with Astier de Villatte ceramics by a Ecole de Beaux-Arts-educated group of friends who are fond of making “dream objects” for the home. Fun fact: the manufacturing of these pieces are by Tibetan workers who are employed by the French company.

Hyun Bin!
Need we say more? The ultimate proof that Son Ye-Jin has impeccable taste is her choice for a life partner. K-Drama fans all swooned when the pair tied the knot earlier this year. It goes without explaining.
