Kim Seon-Ho Lounges On Local Designer Furniture

Cebu furniture designer, Vito Selma’s pieces made the perfect perch for K-Drama Land’s resident “good boy” at his Manila fan meet

It certainly makes for a big  event when favorite K-Drama stars come to town.  For fans, it is a validation of all the love they have given their idol, and for the celebrity, it is a rare chance to meet the legions of admirers he or she has in a foreign country.

K-Drama’s resident “good boy,” Kim Seon-Ho was in for a treat during his fan meet last January 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.  He was teary eyed upon seeing his fan’s greetings.  After all, some 10,000 Chief Hong (a role he essayed in Netflix’s Hometown Cha Cha Cha) admirers showed up to the meet, definitely not a negligible number.

The celebrity is one thing, but Kim Seon-Ho aside, what we loved about this fan meet was the designer furniture used on stage.  For this event, Twinsome Events used none other than Vito Selma’s Ari seater and Solara table as the main pieces of furniture on stage.

“The geographies we visit stay with us even after we leave them. Even after we re-enter the the more familiar spaces of home. Collected souvenirs can only preserve the scent and sight of foods and experiences for so long, and even these are marred by time. Instead, the places insist on manifesting in our everyday landscapes. The linear map of Italian Ari stark in wood against a strange room, making it once again exciting, and familiar,” is Vito Selma’s poetic description of the Ari seater, while the Solara table is a tribute to the line as a design element that is integral in forming grids, blueprints, objects and a whole visual vocabulary.

In a Facebook post, the designer shares, "Chief Hong is in the country and lounging in my furniture."

Furniture designer Vito Selma has enjoyed a celebrated career.  Among his awards are Outstanding Industrial Design Award in 2010, 2015 and 2017.  In 2016, he was given a 40 Under 40 Product Design Award by Perspective Ltd., Hong Kong.  His work has been featured in a long list of international publications such as Architectural Digest Mexico and Vogue Living Australia.
