Object of the Week: The Flower Prism

Bouquets are ephemeral, but this artist can transform them into something that you can keep forever

Often, the flowers we receive mark a special occasion.  Don’t waste a good bouquet by tossing it out after you’ve briefly enjoyed their blossoms.  Artist Jill Baniqued makes prisms with flowers.  “I create handmade botanical resin artworks that helps preserve the fleeting beauty of flowers so that they will remain a treasured keepsake for years to come,” she says.

With all the effort floral designers and florists put into arranging bouquets and floral baskets, it is a shame that they last for only a few days.  Not to mention, the memory of that special day or special person is one to keep fondly, forever.  These floral prisms are a good way to hang on to them.  You won’t need to worry about dust or mold getting to the immortalized blooms, too.  Keeping them “trapped” in the memory of time this way, and you’ll have something to cherish for years to come.
