Stash These 6 Items Away From Your Bedroom
Go on a decluttering day this week with these helpful tips on which ones should stay or leave your private sanctuary
One of the most sacred spaces for individuals, especially nowadays, is the bedroom. During this pandemic and the recent lockdowns, our homes have become the venue for multiple activities that we used to hold away from it such as online meetings, work and learning, for instance. While everything else in the house is communal, the bedroom remains your private sanctuary—the only area where, so to speak, we can be alone with our thoughts, our personal hobbies, and everything else. However, it is still essential to streamline the things that we keep here. It is, after all, a place for rest and relaxation.

Clutter
First things first, always put away any clutter from the bedroom! Have a nearby trash can with a lid to throw paper, wrappers, and whatever else is lying on the floor or on your bedside then regularly take out the trash. Return your belongings to its drawer or organizer after every use. Organize your boxes and stack your books neatly. Make dusting off dirt a habit. Aside from clutter being an eyesore, it also prevents unwanted odor build up and thus, cleaner air to breathe.

Old Pillows
And since we’re already getting rid of clutter, do yourself a favor and do a check up on your pillows. Toss out flat and outdated ones and replace it with a new, fluffier piece. Put comfort—especially on your head and neck—your utmost priority!

Technology
If you’re going to watch TV late at night, just do it in your living room—forget installing one in your bedroom. Hide your laptop behind the doors of your cabinet to avoid the temptation of scrolling through emails at an ungodly hour. While your tablet or phone could be allowed (we’re living in the modern days, after all!), other excessive technology can be used outside.

Your Work Desk
Most of us have created our work desks inside the bedroom during the lockdown. While it’s totally fine, we advise setting it up elsewhere instead. This is to signal your brain ultimately that the bedroom is for rest and relaxation; and if your desk is just a glimpse away from where you tuck in, it could disrupt mood.

Alcohol
Having a drink ready for consumption before you lay in your sack could backfire from having a good night’s rest. Being intoxicated before sleep interferes with a restful slumber, according to research. So resist the urge and keep those bottles away from the bedroom.
