Its world tour kicks off in Manila, where filmmakers <strong>James Gunn</strong> and <strong>Peter Safran</strong><strong></strong>, as well as<strong></strong> stars <strong>David Corenswet </strong>and <strong>Rachel Brosnahan</strong>,<strong> </strong>are currently at. </p><p>Their visit includes a fan event at the<strong> SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.</strong> </p><p>Fans, dressed in costumes and blue and red, gathered at the venue to celebrate the return of the iconic superhero to the big screen. Among them was <em>It&#x27;s Showtime</em>&#x27;s Eric Tai; he said he&#x27;s been a Superman fan since he was a kid, so it was such a surreal experience to meet Superman in the flesh. Actress and cosplayer Myrtle Sarrosa also did not miss the momentous occasion and dressed up as Supergirl. </p><p>&quot;It&#x27;s beautiful. The energy is great. Yeah, I certainly wasn&#x27;t expecting this,&quot; David said about the warm Filipino welcome. </p><p>To which, Peter added, sharing his impression of the Filipino fans, &quot;They have been incredible all day. We are so impressed and grateful for the fandom of DC and Superman this year in the Philippines. It’s a story about humanity, about what it means to be a hero in a world that doesn’t always make it easy to be one. I can’t wait for you to see it. The heart, the action, and the incredible performances from David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and the entire cast,” James said in a previous interview.</p><p>During the fan event, he was asked what makes this version of Superman different, and he said that the thing that drew him into this film is that this is about &quot;a character who has goodness in his heart.&quot; James continued, &quot;He&#x27;s in a world that isn&#x27;t always so nice, and the most rebellious thing about him is that he&#x27;s a good, pure soul. And he is a character for the world. He&#x27;s a character for the Philippines. (1:31) And I just wanted to write about somebody—I&#x27;m usually used to writing about characters who are, you know, kind of crabby, have some issues. And this is about somebody who—he has issues, he&#x27;s not perfect, but he&#x27;s a really good guy. And I think he&#x27;s the type of hope and guiding light we need in this world today.&quot;</p><p>Rachel was then asked about what she enjoyed the most about portraying a strong character such as Lois Lane. In jest, she began by saying that, thankfully, Lois Lane&#x27;s shoes are flat. She shared, &quot;She&#x27;s an iconic character that I feel like so many young women saw themselves in, saw their own ambition, including me. Pictures</strong>, <em>Superman</em> is <strong>DC Studios</strong>’ first feature film to hit the big screen. </p><p>DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn are producing the film, which Gunn directs from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.</p><p>The film stars David Corenswet in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. </p><div><br/></div><div><em>Superman opens only in cinemas and IMAX on <strong>July 9</strong>.  </em></div>
