Taoyuan Travel Locations From K-pop Group Hashtag’s Travelog

<p>After last season’s Macao, Hong Kong, and Guangdong adventure for <strong>Hashtag Travelog</strong>, comes this year’s Hashtag Travelog in Taoyuan with K-pop boy group CIX. They’re no longer just travelers experiencing the city, but a way for audiences to come in and join, with CIX as the travel guides, of course. </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174877207293300_IMG_6454.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>CIX is a four-member group under C9 Entertainment is composed of <strong>BX, Seunghun, Yonghee,</strong> and <strong>Hyunsuk</strong>. The group recently launched their 7th mini album <em>Thunder Fever</em>.</p><p>Here are four of the areas and experiences that they’ve recommended. </p><div><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://eng.taiwan.net.tw/m1.aspx?sNo=0002107&amp;id=5956" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Daxi Old Street</strong></a></div><p>In this episode, they take a time-travel stroll through <strong>Daxi Old Street</strong>—which used to be a prominent route as the dock here was once connected to the<strong> Tamsui Rive</strong><strong>r</strong>. In Daxi Old Street, you’ll see traditional jobs like making Daxi’s famous dried bean curd, ironmongery, and stone work. During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, this street was the hub for the camphor and tea trades. As such, the area had distinct architecture: Japanese baroque-style washed stone shops with beautifully decorated and intricate carvings of birds, animals, flowers, and plants.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174877250175000_IMG_6590.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>Here, CIX dove into a 10-snack challenge, tasting delicacies like traditional marinated tofu, tofu pudding, and the 85-year-old cream cheese ball.</p><div><br/></div><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://travel.tycg.gov.tw/en/travel/attraction/1027" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Zhongli Tourist Night Market</strong></a></div><p>Here the boys had a lively night at the night market, where classic night market games like ring toss and bing-style show off their playful side. The night market is located on Xinming Road in Zhongli District, at the intersection of Zhongyang West Road and Minquan Road. As one of the top tourist night markets in Taoyuan, it comes alive at 5PM when the vendors start setting up. </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174877247267100_IMG_6495.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>What’s interesting are the stalls offering delicacies such as sweet potato balls, fried spareribs, mixed tofu pudding, and hot and spicy stinky tofu. Other snacks include pork intestine noodle soup, fried pineapple shrimps, oyster pancakes, freshly cooked squid, and mini-egg cakes.</p><div> </div><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.xpark.com.tw/en/index" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Xpark Jellyfish Gallery</strong></a></div><p>In this segment, they went on a calming and aesthetic visit to <strong>Xpark Jellyfish Gallery</strong>, where they took selfies mimicking stingray expressions and enjoyed the ambient jellyfish light show. </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174877252605800_IMG_6397.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>Xpark is a special attraction as it strives to create the best environment for species that live in different places on earth through recreating temperatures, humidity, aroma, and sound to mimic the different living environments. Along with entertainment and performance, it shows a semblance of a thriving ecosystem. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Hakka Cuisine Food Trip</strong></div><p>In this segment, Hashtag Travelog goes into an exploration of Hakka cuisine as the boys go inside a century-old heritage house. Here, each member pitched their favorite dish in a fun “TV commercial-style” segment.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174877255263900_IMG_6432.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>What’s interesting about the entire series is how the charms of Taoyuan are shown through a new lens. <em>Hashtag Travelog</em>’s standout features are its social-first approach, and each city is explored through popular hashtags, eventually leading the cast to local landmarks, cultural activities, and hidden culinary gems. The use of the hashtag is the storytelling device throughout it all, and the CIX members even create their hashtags for the show and their own personal Instagram accounts. </p><div><em><br/></em></div><div><em>Hashtag Travelog in Taoyuan is a CJ ENM Hong Kong original travel program that brings together pop culture and travel. The program will premiere in Korea on 28th May, 9:00PM KST on tvN Show and TVING, and will air in 7 other Asian countries (TW, HK, MYR, SG, MY, IDN, PH) via tvN Asia every 6:50pm.</em><em></em><br/></div>
