MANILA -- The Manila International Airport Authority&#x27;s (MIAA) Police Department arrested 5 suspected members of a “Salisi” gang targeting passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.In a statement, MIAA said the group seems to have stolen from sleeping or distracted passengers during the 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. security shift change at Terminal 3. MIAA said the thefts took place between April 28 and May 5.&quot;Their tactic involved one member distracting victims while others stole unattended bags or devices,&quot; MIAA said.The agency said 5 of the estimated ten members were nabbed, with 2 escaping during a brief chase. Two mobile phones and a laptop were recovered from the suspects, who are now facing charges for theft, resistance and disobedience to persons in authority, and attempted escape.Airport police chief Col. Bing Jose urged passengers to stay alert in the airport and avoid leaving their belongings unattended.He also encouraged them to and report any suspicious activity to uniformed personnel, and asked victims of similar incidents to visit their headquarters.
