Lawyer hits claim implicating Anson Que's son in father's kidnap-slay

<p>MANILA -- A lawyer has labelled the allegations linking Alvin Que to the killing of his father, kidnap-slay victim Anson Que, as baseless.</p><p>Atty. Jose Christopher Belmonte, who represents the younger Que, said they were shocked by media reports based on the confession of David Tan Liao, who has been implicated to the crime as the main suspect.</p><p>“My client Alvin Que and his family, together with the PNP Task Force headed by Lt Gen Edgar Alan Okubo and CIDG Chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, were shocked at the media reports that came out yesterday giving airtime to the unfounded allegations of one David Tan Liao, the main suspect in the kidnapping and murder of Anson Tan (a.k.a. Anson Que) implicating Alvin in the case,&quot; said Belmonte in a statement. </p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/4/30/fajardo-pnp-taking-caution-in-evaluating-suspect-s-claims-against-que-s-son-1452"><strong>PNP says taking caution in evaluating suspect’s claims vs Anson Que’s son</strong></a> </div><p>The lawyer asserted that the Que family has been in constant communication with the task force to help bring their father’s murderers to justice. </p><p>&quot;The PNP communicated to us that, aside from the bare assertion of David Tan Liao, no other evidence can be adduced against Alvin, thus they are submitting a Motion to the DOJ to amend the complaint requesting the removal of Alvin’s name from the list of respondents,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;We thank the Philippine National Police under the leadership of Chief PNP Gen. Rommel Marbil for the swift clarification on the erroneous reports regarding Mr. Alvin Que.” </p><p>The Philippine National Police said earlier in a media briefing that investigators were still gathering information to corroborate the alleged involvement of Que’s son to the killing. </p><p>PNP spokesperson BGen.
