<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/174711692212120221103-marcos-japanese-subway-signing-jc-0744.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivers a speech at the contract signing of the construction for the Metro Manila Subway Project’s (MMSP) Quezon Avenue and East Avenue Station, as well as the Anonas and Camp Aguinaldo stations. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/file </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Hours after the partial unofficial results of the 2025 midterm elections came out, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. acknowledged on Tuesday the defeat of some Senate bets he endorsed under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.</p><p>Based on the partial unofficial results aggregated from COMELEC data as of May 13, 12:46PM from 97.2% of election returns, only five Alyansa senatorial candidates made it to the top 12.</p><p>Five others were endorsed by Partido Demokratiko Pilipinas, one candidate from the Liberal Party, and one independent candidate.</p><p>Marcos Jr. thanked voters who supported the Alyansa slate, saying “We may not have won every seat, but our work and mission continue.”</p><p>He told candidates who did not make it that their courage to run &quot;is deeply respected&quot; and added public service is not confined to elections.</p><p>“The work of nation-building needs all who are ready to serve,” he said.</p><div><strong>GOVERNMENT A &#x27;SHARED RESPONSIBILITY&#x27;</strong></div><p>Marcos urged newly-elected leaders, regardless of party or coalition, to work with the administration towards an “honest government.”</p><p>“Governance is a shared responsibility, a mission that requires unity and burden sharing for the common good. To the newly elected, regardless of party or coalition, I extend my hand. Let us move forward together—with open minds and a common purpose,” he said.</p><p>&quot;Sa gobyernong tapat, kasama ang lahat,” the President added.</p><p>He also thanked the Filipinos who voted during the midterm polls.</p><p>“Maraming salamat sa bawat Pilipinong bumoto. Once again, our democracy has renewed itself—peacefully, orderly and with dignity. It is both a celebration of continuity and a call to act on the real challenges our people face,” Marcos Jr. said.</p><p>“Filipinos elected leaders who will listen and act—on inflation, on jobs, on corruption and on the everyday burdens they carry.
