MANILA — Two Quezon City Police District (QCPD) officers were arrested for causing public disturbance and damaging property at a KTV bar along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City on Wednesday.According to a report from QCPD, the incident occurred when the suspects, a corporal and a patrolman both assigned to the Warrant Section of Police Station 14. allegedly entered the establishment at about 1 a.m.They were allegedly already under the influence of alcohol at that time.The Metro Manila police said that at around 2:30 a.m., witnesses reported that the pair ordered multiple bottles of beer and soon began behaving aggressively.Eyewitnesses said the officers began throwing ice cubes at waitstaff and other patrons, escalating tensions inside the bar. Their unruly behavior led to the destruction of a glass painting frame and created panic among customers, many of whom quickly fled the premises. The bar’s manager immediately sought police assistance.“Responding officers from the same police station swiftly arrived at the scene and arrested their fellow lawmen. The two were disarmed and placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU),” the Metro Manila police said.The two officers were facing charges for alarms and scandal and malicious mischief.“The Quezon City Police District strongly condemns any act of misconduct, especially when committed by its own personnel,” the QCPD said in a statement.“Should the allegations be proven true, both criminal and administrative sanctions will be pursued without delay,” it added.Metro Manila police chief PMGen Anthony Aberin said that police officers are held to the highest standards of professionalism and propriety.“There is no second chance for police officers who violate the law,” Aberin said in a statement.“NCRPO’s actions against police misconduct will always be swift, decisive, and uncompromising,” he added.The Philippine National Police (PNP) has long prohibited its personnel from entering bars, nightclubs, gambling dens, and similar establishments, especially while in active service or in uniform.
