Our Favorite Moments From Metro Mom Con

The fun and informative workshop series for moms was an absolute blast!

And just like that, May is through. It may have been a couple of weeks since the first-ever Metro Mom Con, but we’re still very much living out everything we’ve learned from the workshop series!

Co-presented by Novuhair, Metro Mom Con gathered moms from all walks of life to relax, learn, and reflect on the hard work and care they’ve devoted to their families! It’s high time that they get pampered as well.

The day began with a segment entitled “How To Keep Your Sanity While Raising Your Kids.” The discussion, led by “Happiness Doctor” Dr. Lia Bernardo, centered on mothers creating healthy yet guiltless boundaries, protecting their space and maintaining self-love while still being the same amazing mom to their kids.

Bianca Gonzalez, Andi Manzano, Sofia Andres, Mikaela Martinez, and Jodi Sta. Maria also joined the conversation, where they spoke about coping during the pandemic, managing home and work life, setting healthy and guiltless boundaries, protecting her time for self-love, making room for self-care, and more.

Just before lunch, the cooking workshop with Chef Him Uy De Baron and hosted by Lexi Schulze kicked off to help moms find joy in cooking and preparing meals for their loved ones no matter how tiring or challenging it can be sometimes.

For Home and Living, Metro Editor-in-Chief Geolette Esguerra hosted the conversation about Setting Up for Special Family Occasions, joined by master hostess, event specialist, and restaurateur Happy Ongpauco. Participants also received discount vouches from My Happy Home.

Later on, the beauty workshop began. Entitled Zoom Glam in 5 Minutes, this segment featured makeup expert and celebrity makeup artist Albert Kurniawan, hairstyle expert Lourd Ramos, and Drs. Cecilia Catapang and Risa Caldoza. The experts all gabbed about hair, from its issues to its care.

The afternoon leading up to happy hour was filled with fun conversations about sex and relationships over cocktails taken care of Served Manila. Dr. Rica Cruz, licensed psychologist and sex and relationship therapist, led the discussion about sex during a pandemic, the warning signs, finding the time and place for it, maintaining the relationship, and more.

And finally, what else to cap off a fun day of workshops than a closing party catered by The Tasting Club Manila, founded by Kevin and Adrienne Charuel. Originally from France, Kevin Charuel is an expert of fine wine & spirits who is avid of sharing his passion for delicious liquors.

Kevin has been working in the industry for the past 12 years in Asia, Europe and in the US before settling in the Philippines with his Filipina spouse Adrienne. They created together The Tasting Club last 2016 in NYC to share knowledge about wine, spirits and cocktails with delicious food pairings in a social and friendly atmosphere.

They now host tasting events on a regular basis in Metro Manila with various partners such as the Embassy of France in the Philippines and renowned Chefs such as Chef Chele Gonzalez. Ian James Osillo, Brand Ambassador for Campari Group in the Philippines, is to thank for the Italian cocktails the guests enjoyed for the session (Aperol Spritz and Negroni).

Honoring the moms who attended, the private closing party acknowledged guests, the Metro group, the speakers, panelists, and hosts, and the Novuhair team.  The success of Metro Mom Con: The Fun and Informative Workshop Series For Moms would not have been possible without the participants’ individual presence and support. We hope to see you on ground, on site and in real life at the next Metro Mom Con.
