Iza Calzado Is a First-Time ‘Mombassador’ Just in Time for Mother’s Day
Actress and brand-new mom Iza Calzado is edamama’s first-ever brand ambassador
She may be known for many iconic roles such as Encantadia’s Amihan, Darna, and even as the Mama Mary-lookalike on her role in the movie Starting Over Again but well-loved actress Iza Calzado found the role of a lifetime as a new mother to her and husband Ben Wintle’s daughter Deia Amihan.
In addition, edamama, the largest online-to-offline parenting platform in the Philippines, tapped Iza to be its first-ever brand ambassador or “mombassador.” Iza's charisma, authenticity, and passion for parenting make her the ideal representative for edamama.
"As a first-time mama, I am thrilled to be part of the edamama family," said Iza. "Their platform is a game-changer for parents, offering a one-stop shop for everything we need to make my parenting journey with Deia easier and more enjoyable."
Iza confessed everything feels so surreal at the moment.
“Thrilled and realized that this is the next phase of my career. This is it—okay, mom—wow,” she said, looking incredulous but thankful of her new season.
“I’m just glad I’m on this journey with edamama. It’s an entirely different space. Nakakatuwa naman. I really am a mom,” Iza smiled.
edamama is dedicated to making parenting easier for Filipino families by providing a wide range of products and services. The platform aims to offer a seamless and enjoyable experience for parents, allowing them to shop, discover, and connect with other parents.
The husband-and-wife founders of edamama, Bela Gupta and Nish D'Souza, are excited about their partnership with Iza Calzado. "Having Iza on board as our brand ambassador is a significant milestone for edamama," said Bela Gupta. "Together, we aim to empower and support Filipino parents in their journey, making edamama the go-to platform for all their parenting needs."
“Iza is someone we have admired onscreen even before we got to meet her and Ben. It really is a meeting of the minds and hearts. We really wanted a brand ambassador that represented authentic parenting but was also very relatable and someone who we felt aligned with our values as parents as well as founders of the startup,” Bela continued.
The couple readily shared how they came up with the concept of edamama.
“edamama was really borne out of a personal pain point that we experienced as parents. If you look at the stats, having a baby is a time where you really seek out a lot of advice, a lot of community help and of course, you’re seeking for the best products and services for your babybut that all experience online has been fragmented. We saw the stats on global e-commerce and Philippines is today the fastest growing e-commerce market globally. So we felt that in terms of time and money spent on line, moms are really powerful consumers but were highly underserved. And we experienced this because we’re parents ourselves,” Bela shared.
“The mission is to really bring trusted, affordable quality products and services to Filipino parents across the country,” Nish added.
May is also an important month for edamama, marking both its third anniversary and the celebration of Mother's Day. With a month-long overarching theme called “Happy Mother’s Break” all about encouraging mamas to “take a break before they break,” several campaigns are lined up to offer up to 80% off and a variety of treats when they purchase.
Looking towards the future, Nish D'Souza shared, "Our team at edamama remains dedicated to enhancing our platform and expanding our reach to better serve the needs of Filipino parents. We are committed to prioritizing the expansion of both our online and offline presence, with the ultimate goal of creating an even more comfortable and well-supported parenting journey.”
