Baron Geisler Reveals He’s Tired of Playing ‘Psycho and Crazy’ Roles

<p><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/people/2025/1/23/-incognito-showcases-a-different-side-of-baron-geisler-as-an-actor-1801"><strong>Baron Geisler</strong></a> is ready to turn a new page in his career.</p><p>Known for his intense <em>kontrabida</em> roles, including the unhinged <strong>Dante “Bungo” Madarang</strong> in <strong><em>FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano</em></strong>—a role he described as a “scary character” who is “<em>puro sigaw</em>”—the award-winning actor now wants to leave his trademark villains behind.</p><p>“Back in the day, I was known for playing the darker, more intense, and sometimes downright crazy characters. And I’ve been rebuilding my reputation, my image, <em>kasi medyo pagod na po ako sa</em> ‘maniacal, crazy, bad guys’ <em>na walang [ginawa] kung hindi magalit sa mundo</em>,” he shared.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>From Villain to &quot;Good Guy&quot;</strong></div><p>Baron said he’s now more drawn to portraying positive, more nuanced characters. But as the series progressed, Jaguar’s tough exterior revealed a man desperate for redemption—one who entered rehabilitation to be a better father to his son, Mickey.</p><p>“So <em>ako</em>, <em>sa totoo lang, na-enjoy ko talaga ‘yung </em>character <em>ni</em> Jaguar, aka Miguel Tecson. <em>Nakapagbigay siya sa akin ng</em> hope and clarity <em>sa buhay. </em>And it’s always nice <em>na</em> ‘<em>yung</em> character <em>ni</em> Miguel, <em>pumapasok sa akin e. </em>Recovering alcoholic <em>siya. </em>I’m also that guy. <em>So, pag-uwi ko ng bahay, na-</em>connect<em> pa rin ako doon.</em> Family guy. I’m focused,” Baron revealed.</p><p>Portraying “good guys” gives him a sense of fulfillment, “There’s something about it that feels… right,” he added.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Steering Away From “Psycho” Roles</strong></div><p>Baron admitted that the thrill of playing “maniacal, crazy, psycho” characters no longer excites him the way it used to.</p><p>“Regarding <em>naman sa</em> maniacal, crazy, psycho guys. <em>Okay lang naman sa akin. Tinitimpla ko na lang po siya na hindi gano’n ka-</em>scary <em>tulad nu’ng </em>Bungo<em> sa Ang Probinsyano na puro sigaw. Maganda siya kasi maraming natutuwa, pero ako hindi na ako natutuwa. And I’m trying to find bits and pieces on how to make it funny and fun to do. <em>Para hindi ako masyadong madala. </em>So<em>, pagdating doon,</em> I do my job. I act a little crazy. <em>Pagka-</em>cut<em>,</em> I’m back to Baron. So, at least <em>mayroon na po akong mga </em>tools <em>na nahuhugot ngayon</em> for me<em></em> to continue with my good life now. With my recovery,” he explained.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>A Personal Story in <em>The Delivery Rider</em></strong></div><p>Baron’s next project hits even closer to home. In <em>The Delivery Rider</em>, directed by <strong>Lester Pimentel Ong</strong>, he portrays <strong>Santo</strong>, a delivery rider who is on the spectrum—a role that deeply resonates with him.</p><p>“I’m really grateful for this film. It’s more than just an action or drama. We made this film with respect, care, and love. <em>Hindi siya</em> caricature or stereotype. It’s real. It’s grounded. And for us, it’s a love letter, a gift, to parents, to people, and most especially <em>sa mga</em> [on] the spectrum,” he explained.</p><p>“<em>Hindi nila kailangan intindihin</em><strong></strong>. <em>Kailangan lang silang mahalin. </em>They are gifted. They are light. They are joy. And peace <em>sa mundong ito. Para sa akin, </em>everyone is equal. And they deserve respect,” he added.</p><p>Ultimately, Baron sees <em>The Delivery Rider</em> as a deeply personal tribute to his daughter. </p><p>“The Delivery Rider isn’t just a movie for me—it’s a love letter to my daughter.
