Zia Quizon Describes Contract Signing a “Full Circle Moment” at the Iconic Dolphy Theater

You know what I mean? Which is kind of, <em>‘yun din, kasi</em> it’s for maybe like a younger crowd. I’m like in my 30s. Now, 30 more now. And so <em>parang</em> it’s nice to see that there’s something timeless about the words that Sir Jungee wrote and his music.”</p><p>The song’s composer, <strong>Jungee Marcelo</strong>—who wrote her debut single—also penned her new track “Reto Na Naman,” which officially marks her musical comeback.</p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="925" height="525" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/04ZZ0FTeUKM?si=tseywMRuW_CJH1aR" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div><div><br/></div><p>Zia, currently under the management of <strong>Cornerstone</strong>, signed a new contract with <strong>ABS-CBN’s Star Music</strong> on Thursday. The event was held at the historic <strong>Dolphy Theater.</strong></p><p>According to the singer, her mother <strong>Zsa Zsa Padilla</strong> and sister <strong>Karylle</strong> have been incredibly supportive of her return. She shared that the two even took part in preparing for her big day, recommending stylists and glam teams for the contract signing. Zia added that they often discuss the drastic changes in today’s entertainment landscape.</p><p>“Of course, <em>kasi</em> it’s so everyday to us. It’s like very talking shop. Alam mo ‘<em>yun</em>, <em>parang</em> it’s very normal to talk about. So it’s really because I was out of the loop,” she said.</p><p>“<em>Parang hirap din naman </em>to just walk in out of nowhere. <em>‘Di ba, hindi ko rin naman alam.</em> So it’s also like very specific ‘<em>yung</em> <em>mga</em> <em>ganon</em>,” she added.</p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px;display:block" width="700"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1763154607393starmusicph_1763022304_3764826416542737278_393728418.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="700"/><span class="fr-inner">Photo from @starmusicph</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>A “Full Circle Moment”</strong></div><p>The contract signing became even more meaningful for Zia because it took place at the Dolphy Theater—named after her father, the late comedy king Dolphy, during his 80th birthday celebration in 2008.</p><p>Zia described the experience as a major full-circle moment in her life and career, even though the choice of venue wasn’t originally intended to be symbolic.</p><p>“It’s very, <em>parang</em> full circle. Like Sir Jonathan said, <em>madaming</em> <em>mga</em> full circle moments <em>na</em> I get to do in this part of my journey. Zia said she feels fortunate that her signing took place there before the space is gone for good.</p><p>“So, <em>parang</em> it’s also kind of bittersweet <em>kasi</em> there’s a sense of finality. Because we’re moving into a new chapter of this physical space won’t be here for much longer. So, it’s nice that we got to do this here while it’s here,” she said.</p><p>Despite the looming demolition, Zia emphasized that her father’s legacy will live on through his work and the values he passed down to audiences.</p><p>“You have to go home with something. Like a lesson, or something like that. So, even though this place might not be here for much longer, we’ll always have him.
