Ashtine Olviga Opens Up on First Solo Anthology Series: “Kaya ko ba gawin ’to?”

Viva artist Ashtine Olviga is set to take a bold new step in her acting journey as she headlines her own anthology series, Viva One Originals: Ashtine. The project, named after the actress herself, marks a significant milestone in her career.Upon learning about the series, Ashtine admitted that she experienced an internal tug-of-war between fear and determination.“Wow, kaya ko ba gawin &#x27;to? Hindi, kaya ko gawin &#x27;yan!” These were the thoughts running through her mind when she first heard the news from Viva executive Vic del Rosario Jr.“Noong nalaman ko, first time ko pong marinig &#x27;yan kay Boss Vic, sinabi niya sa akin na, ‘Oh, bibigyan kita ng anthology.&#x27; Ganyan. The episodes—Who’s The Boss?, My Melody, Balik Eskwela, and Bahay-bahayan—will explore comedy, romance, horror, and drama, giving her a platform to display her range.With only two taping days allocated per episode, the fast-paced production demanded quick character immersion, something she found both challenging and rewarding.“Kasi we only have two taping days per episode. So, usually kasi sa mga gano&#x27;n, kinakapa ko pa rin &#x27;yung character. So, mas kailangan kong maging alert para magawa ko agad kung ano &#x27;yung hinihingi sa&#x27;kin sa eksena,” she explained.The anthology arrives on the heels of a career-defining 2025 for the young actress. She led the hit Viva One series Ang Mutya Ng Section E and appeared in the films Minamahal and the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Manila’s Finest.When asked to sum up her year, gratitude was at the forefront of her reflection. “2025 was full of blessings po talaga,” she said. “Parang mas nag-open po &#x27;yung doors sa akin and opportunities para magkaroon pa ako ng work and mas maipakita po &#x27;yung kakayanan ko sa acting.”<div> </div><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1772009128269[image] - 626195.jpeg" style="width:700px;height:auto" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="700"/>Official poster of &quot;Viva One Originals: Ashtine&quot; | Photo from @vivaoneph</div><div> </div>One of the highlights of that year was working alongside veteran actor Piolo Pascual in Manila’s Finest, an experience she described as both educational and eye-opening.“Ako, usually, hindi ko pinapanood &#x27;yung sarili ko after take, kasi naiilang ako na parang, ‘Okay na &#x27;yan, ayoko tingnan ‘yung mukha ko.’ Pero siya, kapag after namin mag-take, pupunta siya dun sa isang area kung saan nagpe-play ‘yung flashback, and minsan pinapaupo niya ako,” she shared.She recalled asking him about his habit of reviewing scenes. “So, sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Gusto niyo po panoorin po &#x27;yung sarili niyo?’ Sabi niya, ‘Oo, para malaman mo ‘yung continuity mo. Para mas makatulong.’ Na-realize ko na hindi lang sarili mo &#x27;yung iisipin mo. Iisipin mo din &#x27;yung mga tao sa paligid mo, &#x27;yung mga staff na hindi na i-wo-worry &#x27;yung mga continuity mo.’”<div> </div><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1772009036047tempImage9xvF3q.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/> </div>Ashtine also revealed the artists she looks up to as she continues to grow in her craft: Sarah Geronimo and Barbie Forteza.“Bukod sa napakagaling nila sa mga crafts nila, mas hinahangaan ko po talaga na, despite everything, alam mo &#x27;yung sobrang sikat nila, na hindi nila pinapa-feel sa ibang tao na sikat sila,” she said.“And &#x27;yun &#x27;yung pinaka in-admire ko talaga na kahit nandoon na sila, parang, they’re humble enough na, alam mo &#x27;yun, makisalamuha sa ibang tao,” she added.As she prepares for the anthology’s release, the actress is focused on sustaining the momentum of her breakthrough year.“This 2026, siguro it’s to maintain lang, kasi ‘di ba, mahirap magkaroon ng breakthrough e.
