20+ Celebrities Who Inspired Us On International Women's Day
Happy International Women's Day!
Celebrations for International Women's Day may be coming to a close this week, but the advancement of gender parity and the push for women's rightful places in social, economic, cultural, and political settings will continue long after they've ended.
The special holiday, which has been celebrated since the 1990s, isn't credited to a single founder or organization, but rather, is the result of a collective effort of both women and men from all over the world who believe in the fundamental principles of human rights, dignity, and equality.
Awareness of International Women's Day, as well as the movements and advocacies born out of it, have significantly increased throughout the years with female personalities and ordinary citizens alike showing their support. These women have positively influenced others to follow suit, acknowledging the need to inspire change in the way women are perceived and treated as well as their ability to empower fellow women to believe in themselves.
