The 56th Baeksang Arts Awards is pushing through this year sans audience to adhere to social distancing measures. The announcement came with the unveiling of nominees for different categories but fans and followers were especially taken aback with the Best Actress nominations.

If you have watched When the Camellia Blooms, Hyena, A World of Married Couple (The World of The Married), Crash Landing on You and Hotel del Luna, you’re in for a treat… or jaw-dropping confusion as to who to ultimately root for.

Just as these shows are critically-acclaimed and commercially successful, all of the actresses nominated gave impressive, outstanding performances.

Lee Ji-eun, also known as singer IU, earns her back-to-back Baeksang nomination for Best Actress (last year for “My Mister”), this time for her take on “Hotel del Luna’s” Jang Man Wol, the beautiful, greedy and temperamental CEO of a mysterious hotel for ghosts. She is condemned to be the owner of the hotel as punishment for a grave sin in the past.

Kim Hye-soo in "Hyena"

Kim Hye-soo scored a nomination for her role on “Hyena.” She played the character of Jung Geum-ja, a fierce lawyer who is after making money for her struggling legal firm. She makes sure and tries her best to win her cases using any means necessary regardless if it means conniving, bribery, disguising or even getting physical.
