This Actress And New Mom Was Diagnosed With Hashimoto's Disease—Here, She Talks About This Condition And How She's Coping With It

It’s easy to be positive when everything is going well in your life. When challenges come, however, that’s when you really have to practice strength of character.

A few days ago, 29-year-old actress and new mom, Michelle Madrigal, took to Instagram to share that she has been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease.

In her post, the auto-immune disease was described as, “An autoimmune disorder that can cause hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid. It means that my immune system makes antibodies that attack the thyroid gland. The thyroid becomes damaged and can’t make enough thyroid hormones.”

She also shares that she has acquired goiter.

Continuing to explain, she also wrote, “We all know that Thyroid hormones control how our body uses energy, so they affect nearly every organ in your body.”

Raw. - So I have recently been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, along with other millions of young and older women who suffer from it. - - What is Hashimotos? -it is an autoimmune disorder that can cause hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid. It means that my immune system makes antibodies that attack the thyroid gland. The thyroid becomes damaged and can’t make enough thyroid hormones. - - I’ve also developed goiter (enlarged thyroid). We all know that Thyroid hormones control how our body uses energy, so they affect nearly every organ in your body. - - I am lucky that I am not prescribed with any medications yet.. And TBH, I would rather heal myself in a holistic way. I have been doing my research on AIP diet and paleo diet, so I will most likely start with it after our vacation. I started cutting sugar & gluten into my diet and it is amazing that I am not really craving sweets lately. - - I know healing my gut is just the first step, but dealing with daily stress and emotional flare ups is also another thing. I really am on a huge “transition phase” of my life this year. So here’s to healing naturally and being healthy from the inside out! #hashimotos #reversingdisease #healthyfromtheinsideout??

#Transphormation Tuesday! Yes I will never get tired of posting this because it gives me chills and so much excitement that I’m slowly able to achieve my dream body. - It doesn’t come easy... but with willpower and dedication it is possible! - Started at 130lbs on January 11th and down to 120.6lbs on March 18,2018. I came to a point where giving up was the best thing to do because I thought I wasn’t making any progress... and that is actually the time you need to push yourself! Don’t let the weighing scale define your progress! - I am 5 lbs heavier pre pregnancy but I have never felt so much better than before! Definitely in love with my toned arms and bigger thighs because “sexy” in the Philippines means being “skinny” and I am so over it! I was used to people telling me don’t lift too much weights or hey your legs are getting bigger.. it won’t look good on tv. - All I want to do now is inspire women out there to go get the body you’ve always wanted! #mytransphormationstartstoday #Iam1stPhorm #transformationTuesday #LegionOfBoom #5monthspostpartum
