In a glitzy event held at the TriNoma cinema on July 23, Anne Curtis led Buy Bust's Manila premier night alongside director Erik Matti, and cast mates Arjo Atayde and Brandon Vera.
The movie, which was applauded and generously praised by critics in its international premier at the New York Asian Film Festival and in its Asian premier at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in Seoul, South Korea, will finally be enjoyed by Filipinos who have hotly anticipated its public screening. The movie will be shown in cinemas nationwide on August 1.
A first for Anne, Buy Bust sees her playing a tough-skinned drug enforcement agent who endures great depths of physical and mental anguish in an attempt to accomplish a dangerous mission. Reflecting relevant and true to life socio-political issues of the Philippines, the action movie has been lauded by critics as a huge success in its genre, and a perfect piece of art by seasoned director Erik Matti.
Although it's a clear departure from the usual roles Anne's massive following has grown to love her for, this 32-year-old shows that she's capable of being more than primetime TV's sweetheart.
