An epitome of a successful woman, Anne Curtis-Smith is a multi-hyphenate worth emulating. With the work background that she has, Manulife Philippines named her as its newest brand ambassador.

The actress, host, and entrepreneur is a highly-esteemed icon in the entertainment industry who has found her footing not only in the niche where she started but even behind the scenes. “I hope it has been common knowledge that I’ve always been a pursuer of dreams, so when you think about it, it goes hand in hand—being a pursuer of dreams and being a goalmaker,” she says.

Anne takes on at least three businesses: Beauty brand BLK Cosmetics, activewear brand Recess, and baby wear brand Tili Dahli (in collaboration with her sister-in-law Solenn Heussaff). And she braces herself for more investments in the making.

“Being a dreamer is a little bit more romantic, whereas being a goalmaker is really more productive, attainable, and it really speaks to everyone who is so serious about life,” Anne adds. Now a devoted wife and a wonder mom, Anne still manages to navigate more paths and marvels at the possibilities of future-proofing her family’s needs, especially that her daughter Dahlia is already growing up and she is preparing for retirement since she’s “reaching a certain age already.”

Looking back, she lets us know what financial rule she has been keeping with her throughout her career track, saying, “I think one of the first [pieces of] advice that I had was to separate my savings. One would be for savings; one would be for tax—separating it in different accounts.”

“I carry that until this day and it’s worked out pretty well for me and it’s something that I would probably advise to other people—even my daughter in the future—that this will help you in your life to help you have that sense of security when it comes to your finance,” Anne tells Metro.Style. However tough it is to save, Anne suggests that from time to time, it is important to treat oneself. “You have [to have] that extra account for when you can splurge for yourself and treat yourself to anything that you want to spoil yourself with.”

On the topic of investing and receiving financial security, Anne opens up: “I would have to say, definitely spoil yourself to protecting your future and securing your future for your family. Maybe it’s time to invest in [an] insurance for your family or for your professional life or your personal life. I just want to encourage people to set those goals, but don’t be afraid to ask for advice also to help you attain those goals that you want to achieve.”

Anne encourages her followers to embark on the same journey. “You know, it’s always taking that first step. It can be scary to think about making that investment and take your time, but take that courage,” she states, highlighting that success is not a one-man team. “I think it’s having that mentality that you’re not doing it alone. It’s a team effort to be self-made.”

Success does not happen overnight. For Anne, it’s about “finding the perfect team to work with and you’ll grow and learn and make mistakes together.” She added that it’s so important to have “a team who will encourage you, educate you, inspire you, so that you’re able to bring your businesses to its full potential. [They] are the right people who can bring different pointers and different knowledge to the table when it comes to running your business.”
