These days, it's Anne's most recent silver screen project that has the industry buzzing. The movie is none other than the hotly anticipated Buy Bust, an Erik Matti genre film, that portrays Anne as a drug enforcement agent named Nina who must endure the fight of her life to come out alive. It's an unapologetic product of the socio-political landscape of the Philippines under the current administration and is anchored on real-life tragedies that have rocked the nation in the midst of the ongoing war against drugs.

According to Erik Matti—a director who was also widely praised for his other action masterpiece, On the Job—the film took two years to make, and utilized over a thousand extras and 300 stuntmen. Anne, an actress mostly known for her silly stage antics and rom-com films, took this shot at career reinvention and flawlessly rose up to the challenge. Overall, as ambitious as it was, that the pair-up of Anne and co-star Brandon Vera, a professional Filipino-American mixed martial artist, was what ultimately pulled everything together into one cohesive whole.

It was a sentiment shared by the critics present at the 17th New York Asian Film Festival that, most impressively, even had Buy Bust do the honor of closing the prestigious event. Namely, Variety's Richard Kuipers and Screen Daily's John Berra provided rave reviews of the Filipino feature, describing it as a must-see movie and one that was superbly directed and brilliantly executed.

The critics' nods are making local audiences—ourselves included!—even more excited for when it opens in Philippine theaters on August 1, and streams on Netflix on November 1.

Anne was at the festival herself earlier this week to bask in the praise from Buy Bust's sold-out screening, walking the red carpet in the Big Apple and looking as confident as ever.

As she waits for the day her fellow Filipinos get to enjoy the movie she painstakingly prepared for both pysically and mentally, Anne is simply enjoying the payoff of all her, and the film's team, hard work. The waves of congratulatory greetings and pats on the back have even managed to bring Anne to tears at an onstage Q&A, as Buy Bust is turning out to be a huge validation of her acting chops and the perfect showcase of her growing filmography.

On the other side of the fence were fashion watchers both here and abroad who not only commended Anne for her movie, but for her attention-grabbing outfits, too! The consistently stylish Anne turned heads in two ensembles: a playful head-to-toe Gucci floral get-up, and an edgier black nylon dress by Calvin Klein.

With her steady stream of successes, Anne is the multi-faceted woman she's ever been, and she only intends on further honing her craft.
