The 25-year-old actor and singer brought his fans to the moon and back with the two-hour special

As it turns out, a rocket ship isn't what you need to get to the moon. Enter Daniel Padilla, the actor/musician whose online concert "Apollo: A Daniel Padilla Digital Experience" was enough to transport his fans to dreamy lunar landscapes with his soulful balladeering and guitar-playing, at least, for a couple of hours.

The Internet event was held on Sunday, October 11, albeit without a live audience; Daniel, his band, and special guests were safely tucked away in the studio, performing their setlist in front of a camera for viewers at home. Admitting that "Apollo: A Daniel Padilla Digital Experience" demanded a different set of showmanship skills from him, Daniel managed to make his fans swoon nonetheless and the show's hashtags, #OverTheMoonWithDJP and #APOLLODanielPadilla, dominated Philippine social media throughout the two-hour online concert.

Daniel was joined by his band Jose Carlito, his half-brother JC, and Ian Veneracion (another actor-slash-musician). Of course, never missing in action in any of Daniel's projects is his girlfriend, Kathryn Bernardo. (To wish him good luck, she gifted him with a personalized round banig painted to look like the moon's surface with the name "Johnny Moon!").

"Apollo: A Daniel Padilla Digital Experience" featured a mix of local and international covers by Daniel, including "Mr. Brightside," "Antukin," "Abot Kamay," "Mabagal," and "One," the most special of which had to be his take on "Moon River" that he dedicated to Kathryn.

"Apollo: A Daniel Padilla Digital Experience" is Daniel's first major online event. The last time he was onstage for a live concert was in 2018.

Talking about why he named the online concert Apollo, he said there was a pretty simple explanation behind the choice; Apollo doesn't only bring to mind adventures that push the boundaries of what's possible, but that he's also the Greek and Roman god of music. Taken together, it's a symbolism of what artists like him can do in these times: break their own limits and discover new ways to entertain and inspire.

As for his wardrobe, his looks were made by menswear designer Paolo Lazaro, who has also dressed the likes of Maja Salvador, Alden Richards, Sarah Geronimo, Piolo Pascual, and James Reid.

"Apollo: A Daniel Padilla Digital Experience" was a success by all means, but there's nothing that beats performing for his fans in person—something that Daniel hopes to be able to do again, sooner than later.
