WATCH: EXCLUSIVE - The "ASAP" Hosts Share Their Get-Well-Soon Messages For Gary Valenciano

Earlier this month, it was reported that Gary Valenciano underwent an emergency open heart surgery. This was after he felt "a sensation I'd never felt before," following a performance with his son, Gabriel, for the celebration of his 35th anniversary in the entertainment scene. Mr. Pure Energy further shared that he felt "tightness and pain in my chest."

In an Instagram post on artist agency & production/events group Manila Genesis, run by his wife Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, the great news of Gary's successful operation was shared, with details on his condition. Angeli has been updating everyone as well with the inspiring recovery journey of Gary, documenting it on social media every step of the way.

On the third day, May 8, he stood up and walked. The discipline and determination of my husband have never ceased to amaze me. So even after a super major open heart double bypass surgery, he has been doing his breathing and chest coughing exercises religiously because he is determined to use his second life and his new heart to accomplish his unfinished mission on this earth. The day before his surgery, he faced the window and looked at the horizon and said “I wish I could sing the song .. “ and proceeded to sing “Take this cup away from me..” then took a deep breath and went back to his bed. The cup wasn’t taken away ... and so his next season in a most difficult but victorious life journey begins. Gary remains standing. To Jesus be all glory, honor and praise. #garyvalenciano #mrpureenergy #thevalencianos #prayforgaryv #openheartsurgery #babysteps #garybegantowalk #newheart #3xstronger

Finally, on Mother's Day, May 13, Gary shared that he was discharged from the hospital and sent home to continue recuperating. During this recovery period, Gary says he relies wholeheartedly to the Lord to bring him back to his "ideal level of strength."

Day 16. Rehab Day #7 Getting stronger everyday by God’s grace and your prayers. Thank you everyone. I was reading your messages the other night and couldn’t stop shedding tears, touched by all your love and prayers. They inspire us to carry on the fight, though I must say it is a tough battle. I myself had a scoliosis spine surgery in 1986 in Hong Kong and the memories flooded back. This is certainly character-building and faith-stretching. I feel so blessed to actually live the verse “Pick up your cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23) We are privileged to share in a fraction of the sufferings of our Lord Jesus Christ. ...His grace is sufficient; His power is made perfect in our weakness.... (2 Corinthians 12:9) We can do all things through Him who strengthens us.
