Barbie Imperial Is The Latest Celeb To Be Victimized By An Edited Nude Photo
There's a disturbing trend making the rounds on social media. Local actresses' photos are being edited to show their "naked" bodies, and Barbie Imperial is its latest target
She's pissed off.
And you should be, too. We all should be.
Barbie Imperial's fake nude photo controversy is a disturbing continuation to what happened last week, when her fellow Kapamilya actresses Sue Ramirez and Maris Racal took to social media to express their anger about exactly the same thing. A person (or a group, perhaps) took existing photos of all three actresses and edited away all articles of clothing to reveal their "naked" bodies.
This time, it was a photo of Barbie Imperial at the beach in a neon green bikini that was edited to show her baring it all—no bikini top, no bikini bottom.
Barbie Imperial's fake nude photo prompted friends and fans alike to flood her social media account, but unfortunately, not all messages were of concern. Too many were quick to believe what they thought was an actual photo of the actress that she posted and they were all too eager to bash the actress without first exercising a bit of critical thinking.
"You really think I'll post a photo like this?... And to all those who bash and tell me a lot because of this picture, ANG TANGA LANG," she angrily wrote on Instagram.
"Wala na ba kayong magawa kundi mag edit ng photos ng mga babae at gawing nude photo? Paisa lang po, dahil nakakagigil talaga yung gumawa nito. Ilang babae pa ang magiging biktima ng mga makikitid nyong utak?! Itigil nyo na, wala kayong ambag,” she continued.
The actress has not mentioned if or how she intends to find the perpetrator behind the lewd image and press charges.
ABS-CBN previously came to the defense of Sue Ramirez and Maris Racal concerning the issue of their edited photo, reiterating that manipulating photos and circulating them online is a crime rooted in gender-based online sexual harassment.
Barbie Imperial's fake nude photo is the latest instance of Filipino actresses becoming targets of edited nude photos. Before Sue Ramirez and Maris Racal, Maine Mendoza and Catriona Gray were also involved in cases of online sexual harassment.
Last month, Barbie made her relationship with Diego Loyzaga Instagram-official.
