The phenomenal, high-rating series He’s Into Her is returning for a second season, much to the delight of the DonBelle fans. The first season of the teen rom-com series, which stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano and is directed by Chad Vidanes, was so well-loved that viewers wanted more of the kilig and the coming-of-age narrative. And more they will soon get, as He’s Into Her season 2 will be released on iWantTFC this 2022!

Based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Maxinejiji (Maxine Lat Calibuso), He’s Into Her revolves around Donny Pangilinan’s Deib Lohr Enrile and Belle Mariano’s Maxpein Zin del Valle. Deib is the campus king and basketball varsity captain at Benison International School. There, he crossed paths with Maxpein, a probinsyana raised by her grandmother and her uncle, who moved to Manila to live with her father. In school, Maxpein became the subject of bullying and was often teased by Deib until their petty bickering turned into attraction and young love. But soon, they realized that being in a relationship is not all that easy. As seen in the teaser for the second season, Max and Deib will be facing conflicts that will test their relationship, and it’s exciting to see how they will cope with these.

He’s Into Her, which premiered in May of last year, is a breakthrough project for Belle, and she was determined to excel in it. “I’ve been waiting for this break for a long time and finally, nabigyan ako ng [opportunity],” she said in an interview with Metro.Style.

It was a blessing she didn’t expect, one that gave her many realizations and lessons to take home. Belle had previously opened up about her experience of being bullied, so she could relate to her character and she’s thankful that Maxpein also resonated with and inspired many viewers.

Donny and Belle (who also starred in their first movie together, Love Is Color Blind, last year) are getting ready to be on the set together again and shoot for He’s Into Her season 2. But before they get busier, we chatted with this young actress and singer about this series that truly changed her life.

On preparing for shooting He’s Into Her season 2

“I’ve actually read the script na, some of the script, and wow! Wow, I was just really amazed. Sobrang galing po ng writer, si Ms. Van [Vanessa Valdez], sobrang husay. Natutuwa ako kasi lahat talaga nu’ng mga katanungan ko nu’ng season 1, even me who’s portraying Max, ang dami ko pa ring questions nu’ng season 1. And now, nasagot ’yung mga tanong ko nu’ng binasa ko ’yung script ng season 2. And I’m just really excited na mag-lock-in, I’m really excited na balikan uli ’yung storya ni Max and ma-share ’yun sa mga manonood.”

On how He’s Into Her changed her life

“You know, really, I’ve been just wanting to lead in a series before and now, finally I’m doing it. And it’s also on Netflix, like what?! Sobrang natutuwa ako na na-a-achieve ko ’yun and it has changed me a lot not just in terms of career-wise but, really, personally, because of the story as well. Sobrang dami kong natutunan dun sa journey ng pagpo-portray ko kay Max. I learned so much about bullying, about family, your values, and everything. For season 2, I’m excited to learn more and know more. Looking forward to that.”

On her friendship with Donny Pangilinan

“Well, I can say that I’ve gotten comfortable with him. I’ve gotten comfortable to be vulnerable in front of him ’cause really, one of the struggles for me is just to be vulnerable. It’s so hard kasi to be open, you know, to other people. ’Yung parang malungkot ka ganu’n, but with him, I’m comfortable. ’Yung first part nga ng shoot namin, medyo awkward not just [for] the both of us but with the whole cast, sobrang awkward namin and it’s nice na after quite some time talagang nabuo ’yung bond namin. Super ganda lang, and I’m really excited na mag-shoot kami for season 2 kasi makikita na magsasama-sama na naman ulit kami, para na naman kaming magiging high school students and natutuwa ako dun.”

On her goals for 2022

“My focus is just growth. Wherever this year takes me, wherever, kung saan man ako mapunta, as long as it helps me improve, it helps me grow in all aspects, I’m looking forward to just absorbing everything and just learning from this journey I’m taking on.”

Aside from being one of the most in-demand young actresses in local showbiz today, Belle has also pursued her love for music and is now a full-fledged singer. Last December, she launched her seven-track debut album, Daylight, under ABS-CBN’s Star Pop, featuring her hit single “Sigurado” which is a theme song for He’s Into Her.

Following the release of her album, Belle is also holding her first-ever concert on January 29. “Daylight: The Concert” will showcase a different side of her as an artist. Read more about Belle’s music career and her upcoming concert here.

Aside from her solo performances in the concert, viewers can look forward to Belle’s must-see collaborations with her guests—which include fellow ABS-CBN artists Trisha Denise, SAB, and Jayda, who all composed songs for her album. Belle will also perform alongside Kyle Echarri, OPM band Ben&Ben, and her on-screen partner Donny Pangilinan.

Regular tickets for “Daylight: The Concert” priced at P195, which gives viewers access to the main concert link, is still available, while the SVIP and VIP tickets priced at P795 and P495 respectively have already sold out in December.

Belle also just released the music video of her song “Rise,” a track produced by Rox Santos and written by Jayda. Check it out below.
