Ben&Ben Shares Thoughts on Financial Adulting

The band members, all nine of them, have been living together for the past 15 months and the experience taught them to manage a household of their size, including their finances

Ben&Ben, the most streamed band [on Spotify] in the Philippines, is made up of more than just creative geniuses and purveyors of great music, they are also conscious of financial health and wellness.

The band members, all nine of them, have been living together for the past 15 months and the experience taught them to manage a household of their size, including their finances.

“Of course, we have our own personal finances but as a group and as a household, there’s budgeting for everything like utilities and all of the bills being paid here and even down to our food. We’re also blessed to have our team live with us and help us in really managing our finances well for everything. They have a lot of details and it’s very important that proactiveness is practiced rather than being reactive. So planning ahead of time, budgeting—all of these are important and we’ve learned that every single week,” says Paolo Benjamin Guico, one of the band’s lead vocalists.

“It’s in the little things—finding where best to find this certain set of supplies or goods or knowing how to make the budget flow better in terms of the money that comes in and out. We wish we learned this earlier so we probably could have saved a bit more but then that’s life—we learn from this and then we get better,” the singer adds, sharing some of the “adulting” experiences they have learned when it comes to finances.

Today’s biggest band in the country recently teamed up with ING Philippines to hold a free online concert and mark the bank’s milestone of celebrating its 31st birthday. The ING #Celebrating31stWithYou online event featured Ben&Ben as its musical performer on a night filled with festivities, inspiration, fun and surprises.

“We are also very glad and honored to have Ben&Ben accept our invitation to conduct this virtual concert. We believe Ben&Ben’s music will really help us tie in the theme of being ‘close to you together.’ Their music and the fact that they have turned their passion into their career are really going to bring all of us together in a way that we can’t do this face-to-face but will allow us to connect in a very different way emotionally,” says Charlene Quah, retail branding and communication lead of ING in Asia.

“Ben&Ben’s music and philosophy to their music are very much aligned to ING’s brand of letting people do their thing. We saw a lot of energy and passion in their music and the songs that they write and the message that they could send to listeners, resonates with us and I’m sure with their fans as well,” Quah adds.

The band behind the hit songs “Doors,” “Lifetime,” “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay,” “Araw Araw” and “Leaves” was equally excited to showcase their performances during the virtual event.

“The digital landscape for online shows has been an ever-developing learning experience for us,” Guico begins. “In a way, it would never fully replace the experience of something that’s fully live but then, I think, we move closer and closer to that experience. We’re [always] excited to play our songs which we haven’t played in a while,” he adds.

The Pinoy folk pop sensation also revealed that they are planning to hold a concert this December at the Araneta Coliseum. Stay tuned.
