The Best K-Drama Couples of 2021 (So Far)

These K-drama couples displayed great on-screen chemistry and had memorable heart-fluttering moments together

This article contains spoilers.

We’re approaching the last quarter of 2021, and yet there are still more exciting K-drama couples to come our way this year. Kim Go-eun and Ahn Bo-hyun’s Yumi’s Cells as well as Kim Yoo-jung and Ahn Hyo-seop’s Lovers of the Red Sky were recently released, and we’re looking forward to how their love stories will unfold. Ju Ji-hoon and Jun Ji-hyun’s Jirisan is about to be released this October. Song Hye-kyo and Jang Ki-yong’s Now, We Are Breaking Up is set for a November release date. Many K-drama fans are also anticipating the team-up of Jung Hae-in and Jisoo in Snowdrop

So far into 2021, K-dramaland has given us on-screen pairings that showed great chemistry一whether in much talked-about or underrated dramas. The latest K-drama couple that’s been making many viewers happy is Kim Seon-ho’s Hong Du-sik and Shin Min-a’s Yoon Hye-jin in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. Released last August 28, the romance series is set in the fictional seaside town of Gongjin, where jack-of-all-trades “town hero” Chief Hong meets pragmatic dentist Hye-jin.

There’s also the tandem of B1A4’s Jinyoung and f(x)’s Krystal in the ongoing series Police University wherein both their characters (Kang Seon-ho and Oh Kang-hee, respectively) are freshmen at National Police University.

Last year, we also saw a long list of K-drama couples who were overflowing with good vibes and delivered memorable romantic scenes together. In Metro Best K-Drama Awards last year, those who were nominated for the People’s Choice - Best Couple were Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin in Crash Landing on You, Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun in The King: Eternal Monarch, Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Ye-ji in It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won in Flower of Evil, and Song Ji-hyo and Son Ho-jun in Was It Love? At the end of the voting period, Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun’s tandem made the most impact on fans.
