They've Been Together For A Year? BLACKPINK's Jennie And BIGBANG's G-Dragon Are Reportedly Dating!
Are they K-Pop's newest secret power couple?
Will the rumors turn out to be true?
Earlier this week, we got wind of the biggest relationship news the K-pop scene has had so far this year: BLACKPINK's Jennie and BIGBANG's G-Dragon are reportedly a couple, and that they've been seeing each other for an entire year but managed to keep their relationship a secret.
Neither of their agencies have confirmed their relationship and won't be commenting on the news any time soon, but as the story goes, the K-pop stars have had many friends in the industry who helped keep their relationship ultra private.
News outlets claiming that BLACKPINK's Jennie and BIGBANG's G-Dragon are reportedly a couple have also noted that the two almost never spend any time together in public, but rather, enjoy quiet, zero publicity home-based dates.
It's reportedly Jennie who goes over G-Dragon's house more often, what with her and his managers personally shuttling her back and forth G-Dragon's luxe penthouse and her day commitments to keep her safe from the public eye. (Sweetly enough, G-Dragon has reportedly gotten the stamp of approval from Jennie's mom, too).
For Jennie's biggest fans, they'll know that the pair first met almost 10 years ago before Jennie became an international superstar. She starred in G-Dragon's music video for "That XX" in 2012, and in 2013, she was on his album, Black. Their professional history has clearly given way to something more, and we're all for it!
Could it be that this news also stems from a possible upcoming collaboration between the two? Even so, we're still thrilled about it!
G-Dragon isn't the first K-Pop star who's been linked to Jennie. In 2019, she was seeing EXO's Kai, but the relationship was short-lived.
Relationships between Korean celebrities, whether they're singers or actors, often become topics of public interest because of the Korean entertainment industry's strict dating protocols. Generally speaking, stars are heavily discouraged from getting romantically involved (and going public with their relationships) as agencies often viewed this change as one that might undermine their marketability and bankability.
It's only recently that Korean celebrities are slowly being given more breathing space to pursue their personal lives in the public eye, their choice of significant others included. Check out some Korean celebrity couples who are currently dating here.
Most recently, Crash Landing on You reel-to-real couple Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin are two of the biggest Korean stars to have publicly acknowledged their relationship.
