In 2003, Kat was in California, building a career in the field of technology, while Christian was about to make a name for himself in the Philippine music industry via the competition "Star in a Million."
“I studied in Santa Clara University in California, wherein I majored in Communications, specific to Communication Technology,” Kat shared.
“Then I eventually worked for Google for a year, where I was part of the team that gave way to today’s Google+. I met great engineers in there and I realized I love social networking. So I left Google and got into Facebook,” she said. Kat worked for Facebook and met its founder Mark Zuckerberg. “I remember my mom telling me, ‘You’re leaving Google for Facebook? What is Facebook?’ But now her life is Facebook,” she said in jest. “After that, I ended up moving to Apple and worked there for four years.”

A family emergency made Kat come back to the Philippines. “My mom had a stroke, so I moved back to take care of her. Sickness has a way of making things you think are important not so important anymore. All that’s important for me at the time was my mom, and taking care of her, and making sure she’s back to the best possible state of health,” she said.

The career woman settled in Manila, and found a job that perfectly suits her drive and passion. “I got lucky to find a home in Globe. I started working for the company in February 2013, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I started working with educating people on mobile data. I was tasked to teach people how to use the Internet on their phone. From there, things developed and my boss had the ingenuous idea of offering free Facebook and that was an amazing experience,” she said. “Later on, I was given an amazing opportunity to lead the music team and we worked in partnership with, and under amazing guidance from, our leaders and brought Spotify to the Philippines through our company. It was amazing bringing free legal streaming music to the Filipinos,” she said.
Kat became the Head of Music in 2015, and in 2017, the head of Strategy Business Development and Program Manangement under the Content Business for Globe.
Spotify and music have given Kat great milestones in her career. Little did she know that the love of her life would be so connected to the art of music as well.
