The seconds leading up to the announcement were some of the tensest we've had to get through all month, but we'll be the first to tell you that it was all worth it. 

They did, after all, conclude in the Philippines being given its fourth Miss Universe crown—a massive accomplishment for a country whose love affair with beauty pageants spans decades and generations.

Filipinos from all over—in Manila, in Catriona's hometown of Oas, Albay, and even in Bangkok—quite literally leaped in the air and yelped in joy upon Catriona's coronation, with many of those lucky enough to be at the pageant's venue singing the National Anthem when the news of Catriona's win broke.

But nothing beats the touching reactions of those closest to Catriona: her Scottish dad, Ian Gray, Filipina mom, Normita Magnayon, as well as her boyfriend, Filipino-German model Clint Bondad. 

Although the trio didn't sit together during the pageant, (Catriona's mom and dad were at front and center while Clint was with the audience on the stage's righthand side), all of them were over the moon when their special girl earned her much-deserved title.

Catriona's mom broke out in tears, her dad stood up to applaud her, and Clint didn't hold back with the bellows of the proud boyfriend he was.
