As tradition goes, Miss Universe titleholders spend a few weeks in New York City where the organization's headquarters is located. There, they fulfill various responsbilities as a spokesperson, ambassador, advocate, and overall role model until they can finally head home to their respective countries and be greeted with a big, warm welcome from their countrymen.

After the country's fourth Miss Universe winner wowed international audiences during her US media tour that included numerous talk show guestings, invitations to New York Fashion Week, and even a Vogue makeup tutorial video (she was the first Miss Universe winner to be featured in the iconic magazine, to boot!), she's now back home and we couldn't be more excited about her arrival.

Thousands of Filipinos gathered in the streets during the first leg of her homecoming itinerary which included a parade that spanned Manila's busiest thoroughfares.

Beginning in the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, Catriona moved around Manila's Vicente Sotto Street, Roxas Boulevard, Kalaw Street, and Taft Avenue to end up in Makati's center where she waved to well-wishers hoping to catch a glimpse of her as she passed through Buendia and Ayala Avenues.

The 25-year-old was full of energy as she continuously waved the Philippine flag simultaneously with the crowd, many members of whom couldn't help but shed a few tears of pure joy as she floated by.

Everyone was naturally keen on noticing what Catriona wore to the whole day event, as a her reign has been largely defined by her choice to showcase local couturiers and their creations that shine the spotlight on Filipino textiles and traditional designs.

For this occasion, Catriona partnered with Mak Tumang yet again, the Kapampangan designer behind her memorable Ibong Adarna and Mayon volcano-inspired numbers she wore to the pageant proper that no one will ever forget.

This time, she donned a sampaguita and anahaw- inspired terno with a modern twist. Instead of the expected butterfly sleeves paired with a skirt, Mak turned the dress into a stunning green, silver, and beige jumpsuit. (Catriona wore an equally stunning terno pantsuit in living coral by the same designer at her homecoming's press conference).
