The Philippines is off to a strong start at the Miss Universe 2018 competition being held at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok, Thailand, at this very moment.
The event hosted by entertainer Steve Harvery introduced all 94 of participating beauties from countries all over the world, setting off waves and waves of cheers and applause from the adoring audience.
Kicking off the evening was a performance by Ne-Yo, followed by the first heart-stopping moment of the annual competition: the announcement of the Top Five candidates from Asia and The Pacific.
First called was Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green (the successor of Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, reigning Miss Universe), followed by Miss Philippines Catriona Gray, Miss Nepal Manita Devkota, Miss Thailand Sophida Kanchanarin, and Miss Vietnam H'Hen Niê from Ð?k L?k.
Deafening cheers met Catriona's advancement to the next round, a step which brings her closer to bringing the Philippines its fourth Miss Universe crown.
The evening will soon test Catriona in the competition's major segments including the evening gown and swimsuit segments, and the most exciting one of all, the Q&A round.
Congratulations and good luck, Catriona!
