"We're In This Together"—Couple Catriona Gray And Sam Milby Did An Acoustic Collab!
With Catriona on the mic and Sam on strings, this couple in love sends a message of hope for better days ahead—and dispel rumors about their relationship, while they're at it
Cat and Sam—their names don't only make a catchy hashtag, but they sound great as the name of a singing duo, too!
And that's exactly what new celebrity couple Catriona Gray and Sam Milby treated their fans to over the weekend. The lovebirds teamed up for a stripped, a.k.a. an acoustic version of the song "We're in This Together," performing it for a new music video now out on YouTube.
If you're wondering why the song has an acoustic version (and why the song itself sounds familiar), it's because it was first released in 2018 to promote Young Focus Philippines, the non-profit Catriona has supported for years and chose to partner with for her Miss Universe 2018 .
Here's the original song and music video:
This time around, Catriona brings the spotlight back on Young Focus Philippines with a more up to date cause attached; as the pandemic continues to hurt disadvantaged Filipino families the most, these families' children are pushed further below the priority ladder and are unable to have their basic needs met, including receiving an education.
As an organization that zeroes in on providing educational support to impoverished youth, Young Focus Philippines targets this exact issue and with the help of Catriona, hopes to raise P1 million in financial assistance to kick-start online educational programs. But of course, the re-released song's biggest visual highlight was Catriona's solo guitarist providing the musical accompaniment to her soulful singing. In a rare on-camera appearance together, Catriona and Sam were coupled up for the music video, exchanging sweet glances between verses and chords. The two made their relationship Instagram official last May 23, on Sam's birthday, with him posting a polaroid photo with her captioned with "Worth every second of the wait. Most special birthday yet ♥️"
Though perfectly capable of carrying a tune himself, Sam let his girlfriend take center stage and sing from the heart, allowing her to give life to lyrics like "And I don't ever wanna sleep again, long as you ain't got a home, you can use my only bed to rest your weary head 'cause we're in this together..."
The music video couldn't have come out at a better time.
In case you missed it, Catriona and Sam were the objects of intense Internet intrigue in the last few days, owing the rumors to a series of many, many cryptic Instagram Stories posted by Catriona's ex-boyfriend, Clint Bondad.
The posts were so out of the ordinary and odd that at the height of the frenzy, there were over 90,000 tweets about them.
The posts were a combination of text seemingly randomly strung together, zoomed in photos, layered images, screen shots of actual conversations, and digitally manipulated images. They remained a mystery for the most part, however, Clint eventually name dropped Catriona and Sam, proving the suspicions of netizens about his Instagram rampage being directed to the couple to be true. There were insinuations of infidelity that made Catriona the target of online hate, with many social media users quick to call her a cheater and Sam an opportunist.
A few days after netizens feasted over the unfolding story, Sam commented on the issue with his own Instagram post. He defended himself and Catriona, calling the insinuations "defamatory lies."
Catriona has mostly stayed mum on the issue, save for one Instagram Story where she alluded to her faith and how it would help her overcome the controversy. Clint, on the other hand, is still posting on Instagram Stories. And whether or not Clint did target Catriona and Sam is still up for debate.
We're glad that things have calmed down and focus can be re-directed back to Catriona's philanthropic efforts—and her kilig-worthy music video with Sam, too!
Produced by Cornerstone Music, the video was released on July 18, Saturday, and has since racked up almost a million views. The song can be digitally downloaded, too.
